Citroen C4 Cactus 2014-2017 SUV in-depth review - Mat Watson

The unconventional Citroen C4 Cactus takes on more conventional compact and small SUVs such as the Renault Captur, Nissan Juke, and larger SUVs like the Skoda Yeti. So where do the strengths lie within the Citroen Cactus? Despite it-s small stature, can it provide enough passenger space, whilst not sacrificing fuel efficiency and speed? Does this crossover really combine the best of both worlds, or does it fall short, trying to do too much? Are regular SUVs or hatchbacks more value for money? Find out now as I review the Citroen C4 Cactus

Literally the worst car I've ever driven. How this won an award is beyond me and just re-iterates how crap and meaningless these awards are.
The car is a total turd to drive. Think a 1990's game steering wheel without force feedback. And worse. Literally no feel in the steering whatsoever.
The car also handles like a turd. Corners? I don't think so. You just have no idea how this car will react.
Performance like a turd. I had the unfortunate experience of having the automatic model as a courtesy car. The auto box is slow, lumpy and reacts like a turd. It's also positively dangerous. You put your foot down on junctions to pull away, the accelerates and then all power is lost while it decides to change gear at a glacial pace. You're literally left hanging in the middle of the road while the car changes gear and removes all power. I kid you not, I've come close to shitting my pants at times.
The build quality is like a turd too. And whoever thinks this car looks good, probably likes the look of a fresh, shiny turd.
This is a bag of sh! te. Do NOT buy this thing. Get a 2008 if you insist on a French car.
This really is a crap car and achieves a turd score of 9/10.

I drive the Cactus Flair model and have to say, based on what Citroen were out to achieve with these cars, I think they nailed it. Remember that cost effectiveness and weight (to create a better ride experience) were the primary goals here. That reduces the price (and makes it incredibly affordable for a car in the family hatch bracket) and very quick and nimble. The 1. 2 has 0-60 in 9. 3secs which is so much faster than the equivalent Captur or Juke. To create these figures means something had to give (wind down back windows means a heavy mechanism, cheaper plastics which are lighter etc) But the driving experience, the tech that is included, the size and space are all spot on.
Bravo CarWow, you were right to love this car. It's no premium motor that's for sure, but never has it claimed to be. Most people that have them, love them. And I'm one of them! :-)

It was CarWow Car of the Year when it was first released. We drove a leased Cactus 1. 6 diesel ETG for 10, 500 kms around Europe and UK in 2015. 4. 6 l/100kms. Comfortable and roomy. 2019 bought a new 2018 C4 Cactus 1. 2 turbo petrol with 6 speed auto, leather and sunroof.
Brilliant. Great value, character and comfort.
PS. I think the boot lip is for strength in the rear as the whole car weighs 1, 050 kg. In Australia we get a 5 yr warranty and a full size spare, plus reversing camera. We miss out on the new series Cactus with progressive hydraulic cushion suspension.

Not a single person here or in Sydney has this car, I couldn-t spot even a single one, seems like they didn-t do so well with them over this side, I wonder about the west side and down in Melbourne though.
It was also extremely uncomfortable and flared up my pudendal neuralgia which is something I hate flaring up and anyone with it knows exactly what I mean.

i have seen the automatic transmission version. they did away with the shifter n replace D, N, R with push buttons which is pretty cool and bold. this car is more like exploring alternative ways of approaching things. some ideas are good while some not so. but it helps move car technology forward which is good. do i like it? yes. do i want one? no.

My company got me that piece of rubbish out of a cheap rental deal. By far my most painful experience as driver. After one day. i got so fed up with the woobly handling, The noisy cabin, the engineering nonsense. I drove back to car rental office. Paid extra money and got C180d. Once on back the road the feeling of relief I got was unbelievable.

Had a 1. 6 diesel auto hired for 3 weeks, absolutely the worst gearbox ever, fitted in the most awkward car with some of the poorest build quality and design I have ever driven absolutely hated everything ( nearly) about it. It was decent on fuel. Could not wait to give it back. Oh and that bloody stopstart that constantly re enables. Itself. -

Looked at one yesterday, i'm 183cm and found it really comfortable in the back. What I find disappointing is that I can only get about 169cm of length when putting the seats down, 185cm would've been perfect for me. I think they fixed the shifter in the later years, because the one I looked at didnt wobble that much

why couldn't you say: -this is shit, never ever buy it new or used-. 7 minutes of useless talking. This could have been done in 10 seconds. Here is a challenge for you. There is a rumour that a car can be burned down in 3 minutes. Why wouldn't you try on that bollocks of the car?
