Tesla Model S P100D Ludicrous Plus 2018 in-depth review - Mat Watson

The Tesla Model S emphatically proves that electric cars can be exciting to drive. I try the top spec P100D model - complete with Ludicrous Mode - a car which in terms of both price and performance competes against the Porsche Panamera Turbo. So is it worth switching on to electric power, or is this Tesla a turn-off? Find out what I think in my detailed review

Thanks for your review - yup: way overpriced with all the rubbish design features! Plus it looks so dull, same as all cars look now (unless it was a bright colour I'd lose it in the car park, not at all interesting. Do I want one? I'd like that acceleration (but would hardly ever be able to use it so pointless for me) so nope: I don't want a big, heavy very expensive car without proper bumpers that has restricted visibility and I've got nowhere to keep & charge it and nobody local who could service it and wouldn't (probably) be able to afford the insurance. Did they really design it this badly!

Car designers stop sloping the back so much in sedans. People sometimes ride in the back and let's get back to form follows function and giving proper headroom and visibility out of the back. Plus, I personally don't think a sloping roofline looks that great. There are some things I like about the car, like the modern interior. I like that it doesn't make engine noise yet truly goes though is there such a thing as too fast acceleration? It's a very nice looking car. But it seems to need further refinement as a car.

I know I am alone here but I think Tesla's just look really plain and boring. Kudos to Tesla though as they have created a brand that's become a status symbol. However, if you slapped a ford badge on the front I think most people wouldn't be interested and would just see it as a really fast concept car. The big screen is great but it looks like it was just slapped on, like a big tablet on a stalk. Why has it not been engineered into the dash?

This car is great on quarter mile but nobody really shows it on the half mile. Aside from instant torque, it won't keep up with performance cars like the M5CS on longer strips and race tracks.
I think the car is incredible, especially considering how far the technology has come in the past few year, however, I still think its not quite ready to be reasonable and not just a really cool toy

YES exciting to drive - when you can and it isn't sitting charging. A 1967 VW beetle could beat it in a race from LA to SF; because about 1/3 of the time the Tesla will have to charge and that is if you have access to their Superchargers - if not you may be talking 8 hours on 220, even days on a 110v. So stop talking about their performance if you don't average in the charging times.

Crazy! I have a Model S 75RWD and I think its quick! Totally agree on the -actual range- When you have a car like this you tend to drive it more aggressively. I get about 150 miles (supposed to be 250. But who cares! I live in Southern California where there are Superchargers EVERYWHERE!

You all forget about electric cars will save the world, this is fk important. how many videos I seen, no one mentioned it! What a shit you all breathing, too much carbon dioxide can cause all life on Earth to die, need to stop it till is not too late. just to remind you all; )

-You have to wait 45 minutes for a charge which is longer than putting petrol in. -
Um. yes. But why aren't you mentioning that from 0 to 100% it would cost charging at home roughly 10USD? As opposed to the ridiculous prices of petrol that is needed much more often.

ladies and gents, here as i say it, you are witnessing not just a car from a local silicon valley company but, dare i to say, you are witnessing a history, i repeat a history thats never been done so successfully before, EVER in humankind, period!

Electric cars gives cancer bro!
What happens when you leave your car outside in the cold? The battery dies! if it's too cold with the battery plugged in the battery will still die plus the panel gaps and paint, interior is shiddy bruh!
