This is the Lexus ES! This hybrid Japanese saloon is designed to take on top-of-the-range competitors such as the Audi A6 and Mercedes E-Class. The exterior design certainly stands out compared to the more -conservative- and well-known German models, but can it do enough to disrupt the high-end saloon market? Stick with Mat in his latest in-depth review to find out! Watch our Mercedes E-Class review - Watch our Audi A6 review - Save on a new Lexus ES

it's bettered by the Germans? For me personally, I have had several cars in my life. I purchased a brand new Lexus ES350, almost 8 years ago. I'm still in love with it. Aside from scheduled maintenance, I have never needed to do anything else to the car. It still drives, rides, and looks like a brand new car after 8 years. The body has held up magnificently and the interior remains stunning. There is only the most subtle wear on the front driver's seat-- and that is being extremely picky. Lexus is quality--- Planning on buying my next ES in the next year.

Lets get something clear. Lexus''s are really great cars. They are extremely good looking (at least in my opinion. They are reliable. They are built to last. Say what you want to say, I'd choose this over a BMW or Mercedes any day (If I could afford that is: P. Not saying that Mercedes or BMWs are anything less, but nothing's perfect and we all have different tastes. But one thing we can all agree on is that Lexus is more reliable than Mercedes or BMWs have ever been.

German cars are like German sweets: Best sweets in the world if you live in the moment, with disastrous effects in the long run. (But who cares? They taste so good)
LEXUS is like Japanese tofu. Much more bland and tasteless, but won-t screw up your health like the German sweets!
As a former Mercedes owner:
I gave up the German sweets and switched to Japanese tofu. (However: my nissan maxima is not boring to drive at all! -)

People saying Lexus reliability is overrated vs the Germans need to take a look on Auto-trader. The Germans cars that have lower resell value than Lexus. The German brands really fail on things like constant spark plugs, cylinders or coolant leak. I love driving my new golf but the Toyata auris my first car was reliable in terms of waking up in the morning to go work and not find an issue

I was expecting to see better internal quality, not much better than a Toyota? Mpg good though, bit slow though. Lexus always reliable, Germans not. I would like to see a Genesis, Lexus comparison. I think the Genesis would be better but not as many MPG, Hyundai need better ICE engines/ hybrids to really make them worth considering. .. In my view? Well done Matt, always s pleasure. A

The trouble is that most of the comparison to the German cars are all just either petrol or diesel cars while this is a hybrid, so of course, it's gonna be drowsy mostly bc of emission standards. If it were to be an ES350 with a 3. 5L V6, it will sound better and plus, it is one of the most reliable engines ever that is still naturally aspirated rather than turbocharged

I feel like a GS is better for 5 series, e class and A6 competition. Especially the price because the ES starts from 40k and the GS starts from 51k. Also the e class starts from 54k, the 5 series starts from 54k and the A6 starts from 54k so that is y i think the GS is better for the competition and an ES is less than a 3 series!

its camry inside lexus ES? so its have good reliability. But for status Symbol Mercedes, BMW, Audi is more better. don't think the Germans have bad reliability. germans car have a lot of electronic, so you much spend more time to care them. E class, C class, G classs, GLC, 3 series, 5 series, A4, A6 have good reliability.

Nice car if you need a daily comfortable ride. Legendary Lexus Reliability and strong resale value. My 2004 GS300 still rides like new and everything functions properly.
Do yourself a favor and Ignore the unreliable and disposable German Turbo JUNK cars of today and their endless problems. Lexus is the real deal!

I don-t give a shit about reliability. All cars are unreliable in someway. Lexus will never be able to touch Mercedes, BMW and Audi in terms of pure luxury, sophistication and sportiness. You can-t compare. If you can-t afford to fix a German car then you can-t afford one PERIOD. Go buy a Lexus or an Acura.
