This is the Citroen C4 Cactus. Gone are the unique side panels and roof rack from the previous model, but how does the rest of this 2018 mini SUV stack up? Take a look in my latest in-depth review

Actually, base C4 is much better option, even the older one. It has more space for passengers and a huge trunk. Also is very well designed inside and out (much better than this cactus. My favorite models are C4s from 2013 till nowday. Actually, after some searching I have bought used 2015 C4 and till today I am very satisfied with it. It has diesel 120hp and automatic transmission (not jerky, at least not worse than Astra's or Golf's) and not touch panel (which is good. Only cons are not so sporty driving (leaning in corners, whistling windows (at higher speeds, little shaky over 150kmh, but the real problem is electronic brake - very tricky piece of hardware which sholudn't be in cars, it's really dangerous. All in all, this is very good car for the money. Nice, comfy and not expensive. Also C4 is very economic - 4 to 5 liters per 100kms combined driving.

Actually the Citroen hydropneumatic Nitrogen/LHM oil was very robust & reliable (including many harsh world rallies) - if given basic service and oil change by Citroen service centres.
Those who tried air suspension like Mercedes - the systems became very iffy with age.
Citroen stopped using it because of cost of production.
The high pressure for the suspension powered the brakes and power steering.
The self levelling suspension helped with UK Tow Car of the year awards for BX & Xantia.
One of the few cars in the world you can have a high speed blow out on front wheel without affecting the car's stability.

I have owned this car for a year now. It-s really comfortable, the engine is incredible and it-s a 1. 2 litre, steering is only slightly less responsive than the seat Leon. I couldn-t give a crap about the pop out windows, how often does anyone open them anyway? Normally just send a draft down the neck of the driver. It does great mileage. I would like to see a lot more cars looked at in terms of how comfortable they are. Best car i ever had the pleasure to drive was an audi a8. If they could make them all as comfortable and quiet inside as that i would be very happy.

Heating via touch screen, pop out rear windows means a resounding no to this car. Fans of touch screens just wait till it breaks a few years down the line. How many functions will you lose and how much will it cost to fix? Suggestion to car designers. only use screens when there is no other choice. Distraction from the core function of a driver (err. to drive safely) Will lead to accidents. It's already happened.

I owned an XM years ago. The suspension was amazing, but the one time it failed, ended up being very expensive. The hydraulic pipes were really costly. But. it remains the best car i have ever owned. Oddly enough i still have dreams about the car and that i still own it. I even tried to search for it on the DVLA database, but it must have been decommissioned: ( RIP in Citroen Heaven.

That's a shame, I specifically loved the things they got rid of on the cactus, the side bubble panels, the rear lights and the upturned ice skate roof rails. Everything I absolutely love about the cactus, they've gotten rid of! If I was a family man I'd of had the (outgoing now I guess) original cactus or a dacia duster, but I'd lean more towards the cactus.

Glass roof, but pop-out windows. Full infotainment system and digital dash, but no rev counter. Split-folding rear seats and full-size spare, but floating anchor points. Top-loading glovebox and massive door bins, but meaningless cupholders. This car really is the definition of running before you can walk.

I don't understand one thing. These days even entry level smartphones have nice and responsible touch screens, so why in every car, the infotainment system is kinda slow and irritating to operate. I mean, it's not that expensive anymore to install a good quality display with decent factory loaded operating system.

Brits obviously are so salty that their own car industry was so bad that it was bought out by the Germans, French etc. Negative body language, intonation, negative everything. Hey Matt, made preview of british brand car brand not owned and operated by foreigners for comparison. oh, wait haha.

Orginal catcus so much better. Citroen has just conformed because they weren't making money from the original cactus. it's a real shame that quirky car like that followed into conformity by just changing the outside to match the same boring car you see on the road everyday.
