Jaguar F-Type SVR vs Mercedes-AMG E63 S - DRAG RACE, ROLLING RACE & BRAKE TEST

It-s Britain vs Germany for our latest drag race series! The F-Type SVR comes packing a 5-litre supercharged V8 with 575hp, while the E63 S has a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 with 612hp. Both our contenders have all-wheel drive, but only the E63 comes with launch control! But the question is, will its size and weight play against the E63 S?

Those jaguars with low miles are 60k now with low miles in my area. Seems like a great car--problem is reliability and repairs--which plague both these 100k plus cars. Do not be surprised--as tested that E63 is 130k--paying supercar price--should have the performance. Chose to get an AWD stinger V6 TT--not as fast but 1/4th the price and it is new and has a warranty. There is no excuse these days for reliability problems on cars like these and several hundred dollar service visits. Plus I own my car outright and pocketed 4k in rebates from KIA. Have all my premium gas--warranty--insurance money for the next 10 years--paid for now. Even if I was wealthier then I am now--I set a limit of 50k max on buying a car since I save and buy them outright. I usually get a demo model but things in life happened and after research chose the stinger--43k car dropped to 36k with rebates and I traded a car I owned and paid 19k out the door for a brand new modern car with a reliable AWD system and engine and a warranty to back it up. This virus lockdown is going to teach folks that are maybe upper middle class to not blow 100k plus on one of these cars when their are others out there close to the performance. Plus after year 3 if you keep these cars at least for the 7 year average--service costs go over 1000 plus and climb each year.

I like a lot of jaguar models, but other than Maserati, it's the most overrated car brand on earth. Maserati is far worse, but neither company is truly a great car manufacturer. On the other hand, Mercedes is arguably the greatest car manufacturer on earth.
With that said, I'd still pick the jaguar over the Benz based on the styling. Both great cars, but I'm not a wagon kind of guy. If the Benz was a sedan though, no question, I'd take it over the jaguar in a heartbeat

Jaguar will give better result in rolling race if its in dynamic mode setting with DSC switch off and locked on 3rd gearbox
I think it will jump then the mercedes come back slowly 850nm > 700nm
But supercharge give fast torque response if lock the gearbox

Id still rather have the Jag! And your motorway comfort race is a joke! Id rather see a race from the most powerful setting of all these cars you do as no one would sit there and do nothing as it bogged down and gradually dropped the gears

Well done AMG. However, as an owner of my second SVR, i can honestly say, it's far more fun to drive than the Estate car and my roof folds away too. At least the SVR would have one the V Max test. Better luck next time!

If the Jaguar transmission shifted more quickly it would likely have won. JLR doesn-t program the ZF transmission to shift as intelligently and quickly as BMW does, or Mercedes does their own 9G transmission.

Lol I know Matt tries to be everyday realistic with using comfort mode for the rolling race. But for me personally, my car never sees comfort mode. Either S+ or race mode.

People saying the Jag got smoked lol. No it didn't that was a photo finish for the drag race. The tech in the Mercedes is amazing but the look and sound of the Jag!

I love Jags, I have 2, but they are NOT performance cars, no matter how much Tata wants it to be, and no matter how many SVR badges are slapped onto the bumpers.

What I really love the most about car magazines in the UK is their sence of humour and respect for other car brands. even when it's against their own brands.
