TOYOTA 5. 7 L Motor - 3UR-FE Engine Problems and Reliability
The 3UR-FE is the most reliable and durable engine for all UR engine family.
The Toyota made over 1. 3 million kilometers of durability testing for
this engine. In reality, the 3UR-Fe can run more than 400, 000 miles
(650, 000 km) smoothly with regular maintenance with using high-quality
fuel and oil.
But nothing is perfect and this engine too. The
3UR-FE has a problem with coking of the piston oil rings which caused
high oil consumption. After that, the oil consumption increases over
time. To avoid this problem, use only the recommended high-quality oil
and watch the oil level. The 3UR-FE crankcase ventilation system sensor
fails hugely often, and electronic throttle system ETCS-i is not as
reliable as it should be. The problem with water pump is also found in
this engine. Like other UR engines, the 3UR-FE has a leaking water pump
with short life about 60, 000 miles (100, 000 km.

There's a reason why all those GM, Ford and Chrysler trucks are stuffed with whole bunch of technologies because that's the only way they can beat this Tundra. Otherwise, Tundra is the best full size pickup truck in the entire segment. This truck will outlast entire GM and Chrysler companies. Unless uncle Sam decides to bail them out AGAIN when they're on the verge of going belly up. - With that said I personally like to have something that lasts for at least 5 years especially when I'm paying upwards of $40K. And it's a pickup truck after all, it doesn't necessarily have to have those fancy features that'll constantly break every month anyway. You don't believe me, ask any RAM owners and they'll prove my point. -

I love the overall reliability of Toyotas but am really over the basic, simple no frills Japanese attitude to design. Fake vents, I mean, REALLY. I hate that. there shouldn-t be fake features on any vehicle period. Having said that I love the overall exterior look of this Tundra. Toyota just has to up their game with better interior designs and do away with fake vents etc that do nothing. They make these for the American market not the Japanese. smart business is understanding your customers and how they think.

Why bother with a Tundra when a Hilux or Ranger will do? Hilux and Ranger are cheaper, lighter for tough off-roading, far more fuel efficient, and requires and consumes less resources. V8s and 5. x engines are from a bygone era when fuel was cheap, size meant everything, and global warming wasn't an existential issue. And it's torque not horsepower that matters in 4x4s, even 2. 0 litre TDs generate the same torque. Summa summarum: American giant trucks are dinosaurs biding their end of time.

Do I actually need to remind every other human here on the planet?
TOYOTA CARS AREN'T MADE WITH THE LATEST AND GREATEST TECHS KNOWN CURRENTLY TO MAN!
They are made to give you the most bang for your buck meaning they DON'T GIVE EVEN 2 FLYING FCKS ABOUT ANYTHING EXCEPT STELLAR RELIABILITY.
If you want a car that lavishes you with everything that you can think of with your twisted mind, get a Land Rover car.

Honestly, those fake air intakes would be enough for me to put off the sale and search elsewhere. Don't need any unnecessary weight on my truck.
It's a shame because, unlike many other opinions, i like basic stuff in my utility vehicles. Old style knobs and plastic are tough enough for me to not care about damaging, scratching or electronic malfunction, and thus making it cheap to maintain.

I saw this man's review of Land Cruiser and how he talked about it made me feel he is someone who suggests people to buy something laden with electronics and downright faulty. I would review the worst car in the world and still have something positive to say about it, this man on the other hand has the audacity to talk rubbish about Toyotas. Fallacious review again.

I will keep my 94 F-150 before I will drive a toy truck. They have the same frame and mine tows just as well. I don't care about features but if I were to buy a new truck it better get a better safety rating than the toy truck does. The toy truck also only manges to tow because of its insane rear gear. Match it to an F-150 and I bet it will be screaming for mercy too.

People say it's better than F150 cause it last 500. 000 Miles. who needs that? Most of truck owners get new one every year to write off t taxes( that's my case and a lot a business owners. and you can't compare with f150 in most aspects. so don't worry about 500000 miles. I had both and I'll tell you F150 all day.
