Volkswagen Tiguan review - the best car you can buy for less than -25k?

When it comes to family cars, they don-t come much more recognisable than the Volkswagen Tiguan. Now, you might not believe it when you first lay eyes on it, but the Tiguan-s been updated! Sure, it looks pretty damn similar to the old model, but we can assure you there are differences both inside and out. As for under the engine, well there-s a choice of petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrids, including a range-topping 2-litre turbo petrol that-ll deliver 320hp- Although you-re going to have to upgrade to the Tiguan R for that! If you're not willing to step up to the R, you could always go for the R Line (like we have in this video, which has a 1. 5-litre petrol that can produce 150hp. So what do you think - is the Tiguan still the must-have family SUV? Or are the XC40 or Skoda Kodiaq still ahead of the game? Stick with Mat to find out!

Oh my god Mat, did you really just say a Volvo is cooler than a VW? There's no way you was a child of the 80s! No self respecting cool car loving kid of the 80s would be seen dead in a Volvo. And no matter how good they become, they will her never be -cool- to us 80s kids. And as for skodas - where do I start! I think the tiguan looks nice. It's decent inside. Has lots of kit. Goes well. So lots of boxes ticked. But it goes back to your general dislike of VWs. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge vw fan. I think the golf is massively over rated. But this tiguan and the Arteon both look like really standout cars for thier segments -

Good video apart from slightly off sound quality in the early stage of the driving part - but there is one thing i'd like to point out. If you're looking at a Tiguan and want a -more spacious car-, you compare it with the Tiguan Allspace. The Kodiaq that you mention, and the standard Tiguan are not the same class of car - of course you get more space in a 7 seater (Kodiaq) than in a 5 seater. The apt comparison is between the Tiguan, Ateca and Karoq - and between the Tiguan Allspace, the Kodiaq and the Tarraco. If someone is considering a Tiguan but needs more space, the alternative would be a Tiguan Allspace.

i really enjoy paddle shifters. when you brake it shifts down automatically but when you accelerate it wont shift upwards. growing up with a pc and a steering wheel with paddle shifters does make it more enjoyable. i own a really underrated car imo: 2014 2. 0l diesel engine 150hp golf sportsvan. perfect combo for me, stands between a 'sports' car and a 'minivan'. quick, spatious, economical. best i got was 5L/100 on a 700km trip. between 7-8L/100 in town (home->work)

Hi Matt. Love your reviews. I thought you were English from the Birmingham area? How come you use American language sometimes. A glaring example is your use of airplane to describe the luggage. In English the word is aeroplane. A bit pedantic I know but we are turning into the 51st state of USA with all the Americanisms that are creeping into common use these days. -

A great looking car, but for one awful piece of design; hideous, pointless, cheap looking plastic chromo effect false exhaust pips / tips / surrounds - why oh why oh why! And the walk around and commentary on the design was going so well, I do not and can not understand for a second why they would do this and who would sign it off in the design room! Shame

Why on earth would anyone buy this over a Golf? Slower, less economical, worse ride, noisier ride, worse braking distance, and more likely to kill pedestrians on impact.
Literally the only thing you gain is a slightly larger boot and some marginal offroading capabilities. But I doubt less than 1% of buyers will ever use their SUV for offroading.

Actually, one of the main reasons i do not want to buy a newer audi, vw and mercedes is because of the UGLY fake exhaust pipes. They are ugly, ugly, ugly. I mean, you could simply have blanked them off, and the car would have looked great. They ruin the whole car, can somebody with lots of money and power please do somethig about this!

X1 is more fun to drive? Not! BMW insulations are disgracefully poor. For such expensive cars. I don't know if it's because they try to save on the weight to make them quicker or something.
Could you use a little device to measure the cabin noise in dsb inyour reviews? Not sure if its possible, just an idea.

Shame on vw they are launching the older version of taigun in India, and that too it it's still in pre production. And funny thing is that thers no update to VW Polo in 10 years. Whereas the there's been numerous international upgrades since 3 years. Why are you bias VW. This the reason of your faliure in india.

Cant afford one of these although it looks the biz. I am however going for the Mk1 facelift R-Line and had a wee look at your carbuyer review from 10 years ago Matt --. Oh they were the days. - Amazing review as always buddy even with social distancing. you just cover everything important.
