I drove 2 thousand km and I was very disappointed with this car, very low, very stiff suspension, which makes the walks in the street very uncomfortable. on the other hand, on the track the car comes out in both front and rear corners, little torque at low rpm makes the car slow in corner exits. engine sound between 1500 and 4500 rpm is completely muffled by a valve. only from 4500 rpm the car noise is as pleasant as a real race car. in fact GT4/Spyder has very little advantage over the 718 GTS 2. 5 turbo on the track but they lose a lot in street comfort.

On the manual vs PDK debate, I have had both manual and PDK 911s (996 C4S, 997. 1 C4S and 991. 2 C2S) over the past 18 years. The last two have been PDKs, which have been fantastic. However, I specced my (718) GT4 with a manual gearbox as I believe that the engagement it gives me is worth far more than the loss of 0-60 and track times. I can't be sure about that, as I haven't driven a PDK GT4, but I am very happy with the option I went for, even outside of the (never-ending) long 2nd gear debate.

Flat six? I'd call it a boxer instead. Convention has it that in a -flat- engine, two opposing pistons share a single crank on the shaft and hence as one pistons moves out, the other one moves in. In a -boxer-, each piston has its own crank and opposing pistons move in opposite direction at the same time. This makes the boxer much less prone to generating vibrations. A plain -flat- six may need some balance flywheel and other tricks to become equally -quiet- (mechanically. AFAIK

Never got to 8000rpm in 2nd which is a pity. Only did it in 1st approaching a slip road connecting to the highway: (
With the fabric door pulls I found it really helps as you (driver side) pull with the left hand and push with the right elbow (with the left hand still holding on) preventing one from suddenly pushing the door open and hitting another passing vehicle.

What's the point of buying this stuff and being mindful of the price of options? Do poor people buy that new? No. 170EUR will not stop any buyer to afford that steering wheel center point. The options no one takes at full leather and other comfort options like that. But alcantara wheel, chronometer, be sure that the guy who wants it, will get it.

Videos like this in 2021 make me realise just how special the Ferrari 355 F1 was. Same 380bhp. Same -F1- style gearbox. Great looks. Great sound. Performance was not that far apart either. Yes the gearbox is 25 years older tech and a lot slower and the chassis is no where near as advanced but it was way ahead of its time. Amazing really.

I have a 981 boxster, stick shift. I love the way it handles and feels in turns and tight corners, however these cars (cayman, boxster) are never great at 0-60 (althoughdefinitelyfast enough, but absolutely best in the way they feel and drive, better then 911, better then any other car.

Loaded up the way I would like it, it's about $125K. I considered getting one when these first came out last year, but instead bought a '17 NSX for the $125K. Still, this is a great looking car, and by all accounts a really good car.
