New Polestar 2 Single Motor 2022 review - is it the pick of the range?

Challenges to being an early adopter! My Polestar 2 EV was in the Volvo/Polestar service dept for the 2nd time in its short lease life, this time for 26 days, to try to fix software and possibly hardware issues. With the help/intervention of Polestar corporate, the car was finally returned yesterday afternoon with 45% remaining so I plugged it in and I couldn't immediately charge it. Back to the service dept today; the brutal saga continues! According to IHS Markit, forecasted expected volume for 2021 is only about 250 vehicles/month. Polestar corporate, its PS2 vehicle, the customer service team, vehicle repair services, and parts inventory are clearly not ready for prime time in the US! It is not like you can go to another dealer or repair shop; your are stuck with the one service location and team. Lesson learned?

Put your favourite EV car, being a Porsche Taycan, they are not even in the same class. Try putting the Porsche up against the Polestar 4 or in other words the Precept. Which is the car it is based or married upon. If your going to compare various EV; s, at least make sure that it is the same class. How do I know this. I am a current Polestar employee. Believe me, the new polestar will make heads turn. Porsche design's are all to much the same, just nothing new about them. When you say it puts the power back in the battery, this is called KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System, the same tech which I was apart of during my time at Brawn GP. Oh yeah. We won that season. Oh. If you want the SUV version, wait for the polestar 3. Although, despite all that I've said. I probably would still by a Tesla. LOL.

I shortlsted the Polestar 2 until I found the boot couldn't take my -walker- - I'm disabled. I was left with 2 choices, the MG5, or the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo, the only 100% electric vehicles on the market with a long enough boot space.
Working on the basis that -You can't take it with you- and the somewhat basic offerings of the MG5, I ordered a Porsche Taycan CrossTurismo 4S as the MG does not offer 4WD and my last 5 years without 4WD have been traumtic on a couple of occasions since parting with the Freelander. I've had the Taycan for a week now, and don't regret my decision, but would suggest that the MG5 might be a better option for most folk?

I test drove the polestar with dual motor with performance pack and it's fun but the top acceleration is uncomfortably strong, and the suspension is much too firm for me. I think the single motor with pilot and plus packs is a great choice, fast and powerful enough for 99% of drivers, super comfortable and technology-wise just as good as the top of the range model. I disagree with Mat on one thing though and that is rear seat leg room. If the front seats are set for a relatively tall driver say around 185cm tall, the seat behind it will be quite tight space wise.

Another paid review, all this eco friendly materials in these electric cars which do not cost anything compared to luxury brands, there is no engine, no gear box, no turbos and injectors, but still they cost fortune, what for are people paying this money, second hand X5 5 years old would be 10 times better than this, you would save minimum 20k, with those 20k you can drive minimum 10 years, so what is the point of buying this no name, no quality car, it looks like people do not do the maths!

So who are we talking about because no one does anything without the Communist Chinese Party and we know who they are! They own MG too. Indeed they are into a lot of things, but think we don't know, because many of us would not buy their product if we found out!

40K for entry level el car? They not only are pushing aggressively the el cars propaganda, but expensive one as well. So while EU is stopping the make of combustions engines without asking the citizens, the rest of the World will continue to pollute by driving diesel and petrol cars. and nothing will change. EU is fked up yet again.

Anyone else reckon this car would look a lot better if it was just a couple of inches lower? It feels a little ungainly looking having a fastback design on a crossover frame. Either it should be lower, or it should have an estate body to make it look like rugged-ish lifted estates like the V60 Cross Country.

Bought a Tesla! I did test drive almost all electro vehicles. Driving a Tesla is like living in the future. The whole experience driving a Tesla is light years ahead of the competition. No comparison! I fell immediately in love and ordered my Tesla!
