Thanks to JM Imports for lending us their GT-R - -JM-Imports Thanks to Gearhead Daydreams for lending us their Mustang - Thanks to Sam for driving the GT-R - It-s time for a US v Japan v Europe drag race! We-ve got a tuned Nissan Skyline R34 lining up against a tuned Ford Mustang and a standard BMW M3! So how do they compare to each other? Well starting with Mat in the Mustang, it-s powered by a 5-litre V8 with a supercharger added to it, which as a result produces 735hp & 690Nm. It-s RWD only, and there-s no launch control to be found! - Next up we have Yianni in the M3 Competition. It-s just stock, so that means it's powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six, which puts down 510hp and 650Nm. It-s RWD just like the Mustang, but it has one key advantage - it DOES have launch control! And then finally we have the classic Skyline. It-s packing a 2. 7-litre straight-six, which has been tuned to produce 750hp & 800Nm. And unlike the other two, it-s got AWD! There-s one key difference here though- While the BMW & Ford are automatic, the GT-R is manual! Will that be the key difference?

As a lifelong BMW owner the figures BMW give when it comes to power measurements aren't that far off from the wHP, there is a lot less drivetrain power loss due to many of the components like water pump, power steering pump etc being electric rather than mechanical, it's a rather simple but clever way of eliminating drivetrain power losses. Whereas with the Mustang even though it has a supercharger the entire rolling assembly is a belt driven mechanical setup, couple that to a torque converter slushmatic and there would be a considerable amount of power lost when measuring wHP instead of horsepower at the crank. It would also explain to non BMW drivers why the non-electric BMW have an energy regeneration system (BMW EFFICIENT DYNAMICS) fitted as well that recuperates lost energy from braking.

in my opinion that GTR driver just to be humble & having fun regardless that GTR use old system manual Gbox compare to M3 & Mustang. you can see it from the way it launch and shifting. Thumbs up for you Sam - I know that GTR damn fast if you floor that for sure but? I know GTR fan will know for sure why. ? #ManualUser

American cars always have the biggest hp and tq but cant never put the power down. I dont know how the hell he manufacture get 0-62 time on paper. Maybe they just put the time they want to make the car fast. I will rather have japanese cars than american cars all day.

Can you guy's please get a real American car that can put the power down such ass a Hennessey F5 or Venom GT or perhaps even the 2019 Cadillac CTS V. Mustangs Hell Cats Chargers are just fast junk that don't put all there power down, Way to much spin and smoke

to be fair he was holding out on the gtr's true potential which I'm kind proud bc its a beautiful vehicle and he didn't want to damage it but i honestly think it could've gapped the both of them
reply

It just shows how launch control shouldn't be used in these races, takes the driver element out of it and the mechanical element out, just computer doing everything
reply

Whoever drove the gtr is an embarrassment and unfair. There's no way the gtr would lose with all that power and weight. Unless its the driver
reply

Even if it's a 30 year-old car, it kept up with a recent BMW M3 Comp and a recent Ford Mustang. For me, that's the real winner right there.

Wait, the guy being all cocky literally had to do nothing but push a button and step on the gas and he thinks he's the -#$%?
