It's time for a carwow team head-to-head! We've got Mat in his Toyota GR Yaris going up against cameraman Jack in his BMW E46 M3! So how do these two compare on paper? Well first up we have Mat's GR Yaris, which can produce 261hp & 360Nm of torque thanks to a 1. 6-litre 3 cylinder turbo engine up front. What's more, it's also equipped with AWD along with launch control, and weighs in at 1, 280kg. As for E46, well it's powered by a 3-litre straight-six to put down 343hp & 365Nm. So, it's up on power, but it has a few areas of weakness compared to the GR Yaris. Not only does it weigh in almost 200kg heavier (at 1, 470kg, it isn't equipped with launch control either! What do you think - will the lack of launch control propel Mat to victory? You'll have to keep watching to find out!

The Yaris is certainly impressive. However for me the E46BMW M3 has the purity of design, engineering and proportion that is still apparent even now. The evolution of the design can be seen in the current M3. It has heritage.
Whilst it is obvious that there is some excellent engineering behind the Yaris it looks like a generic Econobox with some terrible styling bits bolted on. When the next version of the Yaris is released this model will look terribly dated in comparison.

I don-t know what it is about Matt, but he just rubs me the wrong way. I am sure he is lovely, but he comes across as smarmy and arrogant in a number of clips. Again- I am sure he is a decent bloke.

If I had a gun to my head and forced to take the Yaris 3 cylinder miniature car, I would still go for an M3. Everything isn't always launch from 0-100 but, who am I to try to convince kids.

I would have the Yaris as it's a Toyota and won't break down. Also I don't want to be -that tosser- in a B. M. W. Im a big enough tosspot without running about in a look at me motor.

Fun race. Btw i just checked the tank capacity, 63l for the BMW and 50l for the Toyota. I was expecting smaller tank for the yaris but yeah, it is what it is -

My boss back in the day had E46 M3 with a few mods and apparently had 370bhp. This car was one of the few cars that actually disappointed me. Looks OK though -

Same formula as yrs ago, small, lots of hp, and 4wd, will always beat big, heavy with more power, gear change speed is more important than total hp, also,

Toyota is creative. Big Ups to the Yaris. Giving Golf Rs hard times. Don't forget we have Toyota GR Corolla. more fun, more and better than Golf R
