Have you ever looked at a really expensive cars and thought you'd recognised parts from somewhere else? Well chances are, you probably had! You see, it can be really expensive for manufacturers to design every part of a new car from scratch. Even smaller parts such as light fittings or interior buttons can cost time & money to develop, so more often than not, manufacturers will borrow elements from other models. And whether the car is cheap or expensive, they're all at it! Even some of the most legendary cars you can think of are guilty of borrowing from other manufacturers! So with that in mind, we've pulled together a list of 13 of the most legendary cars which have borrowed from others before. The question is, are you surprised that any of these cars have appeared on our list?

Thing is, for low production makers it is fiercely expensive to design and develop all your own switchgear, lighting, engine blocks (which need to be either cast or forged, and so on. A borrowed engine block doesn't mean you have the same engine at the end mind. There's heads, cam and crankshafts, pistons, valve trains, fuel systems, induction, etc, to add that makes an engine -

Wow! Who didn't know this? Every boutique car maker has it. Ferrari is filled with FIAT switchgear, TVR were made with Ford of England parts, hell, RR's for decades used GM's THM400 transmissions. It's a good thing usually after the models get aged because it means there's still parts available and sometimes rather cheaply.

The Noble M12 took more than the rear lights and engines from Ford, they also took the gearbox and most of the wiring loom as well. Rover door handles and mirrors, BMW E36 wheel bearings, Nissan S14 downpipe, Ford Escort switchgear, AC controls & steering column, Cougar driveshafts & Lotus Elan windscreen

Yamaha got it from Volvo? You mean Volvo got it from Yamaha. Yamaha designed and built it with very specific dimensions/configurations and powerband requests from Volvo. They actually came as complete crate engines from Japan. Because Volvo owned the design rights, Noble had to purchase them from Volvo.

The Urus uses the same 4. 0L V8 from the 2016 Audi S6. In fact, all the 4. 0L V8s from VW, Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bentley, etc. all use the same exact engine from the 2016 Audi S6/S7/S8 and RS models. Even going all the way back 2013 Audi A8. The Urus is worth 150K MAX. not 300-400k.

Best shared parts of all time are the Rover V8 and the door handles that appeared on just about every Leyland Rover product, through to the Lotus Esprit! Might be a cool video to find how many models got them, including the might Allegro on my old TR8!

It-s so funny when you get into a Volvo, Land Rover/Jaguar, Astons, and some Fords and see that they still all use the same exact window and mirror switches even though they-re all owned by different groups now.

The worst one for me was the TVR Griffith which had -upside down- Mk3 Vauxhall Cavalier lights on the rear. Great cars, but when you know it, you can't get it out of your head when you see it.
