I'm a Tesla fan boy and owner and I'd love to see this done again on a dry tarmac. I do think the Merc will perform a little better at the top end, but the Tesla still spews zero emissions while being extremely close in overall performance and being generally better where it counts: where most people drive, at the low end of the dial.

A long time ago Top Gear boys (old men more like it) used to race various high-performance cars across Europe, London to the South of France specifically. JC, always in the car, always won.
Do it now! Do it with EVs. Any EV versus train or any other public transport.

Can you advice the Audi and BMW that rivals the CLA 45/45S?
Or do a drag race of them. I see sometimes that the CLA comes close to the Audi RS5 and BMW M4 competition. I'm just wondering if the CLA can really punch above its weight. The RS3 & M2 seem to be in class of the A45

Yes, the AMG wins at the top end but how many roads can you drive on at 120 - 150mph. There's no doubt the Tesla is a more practical road car being quicker off the line and with instant overtaking power. I'd still have the 490hp Merc though.

I think as soon as Electric cars are fitting with gears and I mean more than 2 as in the Taycan then they will totally destroy anything petrol based and probably have way more range than they currently have.

All that noise, vibration, smoke and many gears of the AMG, just to still be slower than the quiet, elegant and comfortable Tesla. Gotta be quite the special type of person to buy the AMG.

The build and interior quality of the Tesla is like a plastic toy car in comparison to the merc. Unless you care about the environment that much its obvious which one to buy.

That's a fast 45! Although to beat a Model 3 you need to be driving a tuned A45 at 120mph with the gearbox in manual at 5000 rpm in race mode all the time. comfy.
