New Ford F150 Lightning 0-60mph: THE TRUTH!

This is the Ford F150 Lightning - an all-electric version of Ford s iconic pick-up truck! It may look pretty similar to the normal F150, however there are some key changes to set it apart from its petrol-powered stablemate. Aside from the plethora of Lightning badges around the truck, you can get a full-width light bar at the front which gives it real presence on the road. You also get a blanked out grille finished in gloss black and a light bar at the back. The changes are obviously far more than just aesthetic though, as the big V8 engine has been chucked away in favour of an electric drivetrain. You get two motors, one on each axle, providing all-wheel-drive. As standard, this truck has a 98kWh battery with 452hp and 240 miles of range. If that's not enough for you, then you can upgrade to the 131kWh battery, giving you 583hp and 320 miles of range. The Ford F150 Lightning starts from just under 41, 000, however the range-topping Platinum version we have here will set you back close to 90, 000. But is it worth it? You ll have to stick with the video to find out.

And thanks to the cost of the Battery the price has now gone up again. Oh and because it takes less people to manufacture an Electric Vehicle, Ford is reducing their workforce. So who can afford it. Prices start at over 50, 000 and go to over 90, 000. I do about 40, 000 miles a year. Looked into Electrics and found they were not cost affective. Why because if I drive 500 miles to a customer it will take 2 days of travel instead of 1 day. Why because I have to stop and charge. While Tesla sites have Super Charge for a premium price they still take over an hour from 20%. Also stop by and look at some of these. If they are packed with cars they are working. Went by a charging site and no on was there, why no super charge. Takes more than 7 hours to charge from 20%, also half the units were not working.

Well you forgot the fact that it could tell you how much pay load you have in the back and automatically calculate what your range is going to be based on what you re towing or what you loaded up. No it doesn t have a cover on the bed like the Rivian but leaves and debris that go in when it s being retracted never come back out so you know what you re gonna have to do eventually. Try getting in and out of the Rivian Frunk and you ll find out as you lift your cooler in and out of that Rivian Frunk how strong your back really isn t. Unfortunately for Rivian, even though they drove it all over the place testing in their half shafts aren t holding up and have to be reengineered. Cheers

Good truck. shame Ford lose about 10k on every one sold. As for CYBT killer. I'm afraid both Ford and Rivian are going to see real difficulties when Tesla launch the CYBT, simply because your teenage offspring are NOT going to want to be seen driving a bog-standard pick-up. just like their grandfather's did 100 years ago. I've never owned a pick-up in my life, never wanted one. but I WANT a CYBT, simply because it puts me into a sci-fi movie. I hope Ford survive, I loved all the Fords I once owned, but the truth is, it looks unlikely, even with a massive American Tax-payer bailout.

Or just hear me out, You could buy this truck in Canada for 115k (as listed assuming they don t add a mark up ) or you could buy a comparable 5. 0 or 3. 5 ecoboost fully loaded for just under 68 k.
Then you can use the 47k to pay for 17 years worth of fuel and oil changes or pay for 8 years worth of fuel and oil changes plus have the difference to replace the whole drive train in 8 years.

I got in the wait list for this truck a week after the order portal opened, May/June of last year. I obviously do not have one yet. Dealer thinks it will likely be 2024 before they call me in to place my order, and even that is not for sure. There about 600k people on that list and it s expected around 80% of people on the list will take delivery of this truck.

I have a Cybertruck preorder in the first 10k orders, and intend on taking delivery of it (also drive a 21 model 3 performance, but I strongly believe that the F150 lightning is one of the most important EVs on sale. This will usher in many more new cars and trucks and may prove to be that tipping point that the market needs.

You have to start talking about ownership costs after 5+ years. Lithium batteries degrade a little with every charge and if a car becomes 2nd hand after 5 years and has loads of Km's, how does that effect the range and what does it cost to upgrade the pack. That info would be good great.

There is no shortlisting it. This begins at 45k, it is half the starting price of a Rivian or an Hummer. Most F150s are mid-range, around 55k. It is still at least 25k less than its competitors. This truck is a no-brainer, of course you should go right ahead and buy it.

Didn't see the video yet. but on the thumbnail it says CyberTruck killer. That's a lose-lose question. How hard can it be to kill something that's even more dead than being still-born? How bad can something be to be worse than something that doesn't exist?

Electric vehicles are not environmentally friendly look into how the batteries are made and 90% of electric used for charging is produced using fossil fuels. Better off buying a diesel as it produces less toxicity over its life span.

California already announced charging restrictions between 4: 00 and 9: 00 p. m. so Ford can shove that lightning bolt right up their tailpipe and take those ideas right to China away from freedom and choice
reply

trouble with electric car owners is they think they free to run and that isnt the case, the way the costs will rise in the uk it has now made hybrids and electric vehicles impossible to offset the extra cost
reply

Can you do a video about the owner s manual for all road vehicles, their usefulness and history why they have become such massive encyclopedias no one really reads (unless bored or needing about)
reply

Did he mention it takes 80 hours to charge and that it can t tow anything and that you have to drive it 200, 000 miles to break even on the negative environmental impact from its production?
