Porsche weight feature description. How does adding weight actually affect performance? Well today we re going to find out using Mat s daily, the Porsche 911 Turbo S. We ve lined up a number of tests to find out what effect adding weight has on the car. We re going to launch the car from 0-60mph and over the 1 /4 mile, do a brake test, a slalom and measure the car's economy. We ll be testing with just a driver, with a single passenger, with three passengers and with three passengers with 150kg of weight in the boot! How do you think the added load will impact the Porsche? Stick with us to find out for yourself!

Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia: -(
In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute. From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too. as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils. California and New York will do the same from 2027 on. So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer. They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws!

When i was a kid, i was racing in karts professionaly and it was clear that when puberty kicked in, all the giants kids (including me) had to stop because there was no chance to win competitions when you weigh 20 KG more than another driver who drives as good as you on this level. At the age of 15, i started to race cars at slalom races with a Opel Corsa. The Car was built up and weight was around 1000KG + driver and it had 100hp. You might think now: Well it doesn't make a difference. Let me tell you something: When we were in training for races on the slalom courses and we had a beginner girl ( 50KG) as a passenger to show her how to drive fast, the times dropped consistantly around! HALF A SECOND! (times were always around 50 seconds on those 1km slalom tracks.
So even there it was quiet hard to keep up, if you are really tall or really fat.

When I used to have an old K reg (1971/2) Mini Clubman, with just me in the car it wasn't fast, but it was nippy enough.
_However. _
When there was me and 5 other people in the car, it wasn't so nippy due to being _ over crowded. _ As the nice policeman who stopped me very late one night pointed out.
But as I had been nice and pleasant to the same police who'd stopped me the night before, they let me off saying _ Don't do it again. _
How policing has changed.

MAT, the 1949kg column, 0-60 time should read -0. 08 not +0. 08
I worked it out years ago that every additional 10kg was worth -2hp.
You should be using the average Joe's car not a thunderingly powerful, seriously expensive 911 Turbo with so much torque it has a minimal effect whether fully loaded or just with a driver.
Using a Ford Fiesta or a GM Astra would have got the point of the video across much better!

The genius engineer that's being put in this Porsche 911 turbo s show the people at Porsche definitely know their technology and what makes such a car great Mr Ferdinand Porsche would definitely be very proud of the way his legacy turn out a wonderful and very interesting and informative video blessings to you Mr Matt Watson for your time in making these great videos peace

this is still not exact results because of many reasons. one is that petrol weighs a lot and between having a full tank or being low on petrol is very different results. two is if the passengers have taken a dump weighing lighter or not and chugging the whole Mediterranean sea before the video. clothes also make a difference between wearing summer or winter clothes

So basically, what conclusion we have found here is. if you want a fast, fuel officiant car that breaks and handles exceptionally well. simply buy a 911 Turbo S, for a cheap price of about 207, 000. Or if you can afford a little bit more, buy the cabriolet version for a mere 219, 000. These were the prices when i looked to buy one

Really good that you ve made this video. This shows that people who say weight doesn t matter just add power are wrong. These people can learn a lot when they see these videos.
Edit: you said exactly what i meant on the end of the video. But on a track weight does make a difference. That s the point I wanted to maken

Very interesting. 911 HUL (factory supplied vehicle/press car) was a consistent 10. 1 second car. Suddenly we are seeing times consistently north of 10. 4 on Matt's personal car. What happened to the 2. 1 second 0-60 thats repeatable over and over again. The surface seemed pretty dry to me so no excuse there.

Great idea, as unscientific as always with carwow videos. Can't trust numbers from 1 single launch (or braking) really. There's probably more variability in the times if you do the same weight launch 3 times. I know it's boring to do it 5 or 10 times and average, but it would at least be meaningful.

I think the conversion of MPG to litres per 100 km is wrong as it suggests that the car's computer is set to US MPG instead of UK MPG. The resulting 33. 7 and 33. 5 UK MPG would then convert to 8. 38 and 8. 43 L/100 km respectively.
Unless the car is indeed set to American units, that is. ;)

Does this mean that this car has an oversized engine to start with? the critical point to see the effect of the added weight is still far away? For the Dacia we were on the threshold since the start of the tes. POWER? some real world trucks have similar hp #
reply

Ok, I understood this test on the Dacia Lodgy, but it is hard to understand why would anyone care of some weight in their 911 while shopping or driving arround and not being actually racing. I bet most would know what mass actuallly is
reply

For your next one might I suggest a Ford GT500 or some other similarly nose heavy RWD car. Should be interesting, Especially if it has too much power.
Launch will most likely improve, braking will probably be. interesting.
