Introducing the Porsche 911 Dakar! That s right, it s an all-new 911, but this is far different to any 911 we ve seen before. It s a jacked-up variant of the 992 Carrera 4S, and it s been designed for rallying instead of race tracks! So what do you get with the 911 Dakar? Let s start off with the design. This 911 has had a whole load of features added to it to make it suitable to handle a number of different terrains. There are stainless steel skid plates across the front, sides and rear, coupled with some stainless steel air intake covers upfront. There are a unique fixed spoiler around the back, some black plastic wheel arch extensions, along with the carbon fibre-reinforced bonnet from the 911 GT3. Naturally, there are a number of other modifications, too. The ride height has been increased by 50mm (with the option to increase by a further 30mm available, along with some heavy-duty, specially-developed Pirelli Scorpion tyres. It also comes with bespoke driving modes, such as off-road mode, rally mode and rally launch control. The inside looks traditionally Porsche, but with a number of changes. The most notable change? The back seats have been ripped out and replaced by a roll cage! There are also some deep bucket seats, and a whole load of 911 Dakar badging throughout.

Got to admit as a GT3 guy. It s fairly attractive if you remember the old 911 Dakar they built years ago. Those aren t exactly Cup 2 tires are they? I can t afford my GT3 AND this.
I knew when Porsche started forcing dealers to have a 911 turboS at every dealer no matter how small, they were desensitizing us to 200, 000 911s. Now that time is here. They re quickly getting out of ranges of normal scientists and physicists. What used to be an Everyman super car is getting absurdly expensive.
I had a 997. 2 S that was MSRP of 103k I got for 80 after incentives. Try that now. My first GT3 996. 2 was 121, 000. Look at the absurd prices now. My last GT3 991. 2 was 165, 000. The new ones are just crazy. I had a 997. 1 GT3 that was only a few more than the 996 with PCCBS

This car is for the spoiled billionaires who want to go Rally Car racing and don't care if their 200, 000 car crashes into a tree or goes over a bank before the race is over which it undoubtedly will. I've watched the rally races, they are just a sophisticated demolition derby.

I was ahead of Matt with the roof tent option though since the roof is only about a metre long I hope the overhangs are CF reinforced like the whaletail. This is my new favorite winter/anywhere Porsche if the tyre noise isn't too bad on tarmac. Earth calling lottery

This is the dumbest idea ever. I bet almost none of these will see a dirt road. If you want to spend over 100k on an off road/rally vehicle there are so many better ways. This is a cash grab by Porsche because every special edition they make sells.

Smacks of panic at Porsche. Plethora of new pointless models in the face of more efficient and faster EVs. ICE is dead and still they waste billions on developing new versions of the 911. Move on guys or die!

It would be sick if they actually included portal axles on the production model. I've been daydreaming about something like this for years.

Again great video Matt, Can you do some more videos where you let someone pick a car from 5 selections? They are always good to watch

who in the right mind would off-road such expensive sports cars? what happen if you break something or scratch it while off-roading?
reply

And thats how you make an offroad sports car. Before you know it, we will start seeing cars going 0 - 60 offroad in 2 seconds.
reply

Why is anyone surprised. 911 and Mini competed for Rally Championships in the 60s. And Porsche have done Paris Dakar before.
reply

so sad so expensive I would buy one for sure thanks Matt can t wait for you test drive it and come up with the word BUY
