We ve pulled together four of the best small cars money can buy, and Mat s about to find out which one is right for you! It s fair to say all four of these cars are pretty recognisable. We ve got the world-famous VW Golf, the Ford Focus, the Vauxhall (Opel) Astra, and the Honda Civic. The question is, in a crowded small car market, which one stands out the most? For example, when it comes to price, all four are evenly matched. Entry-level versions of each car start from around 25, 000 for the Golf and Astra, rising to 27, 000 & 29, 000 for the Focus and Civic respectively. Additionally, all the cars here (apart from the Civic) come with a whole host of engine and trim options to choose from. Thankfully, Mat s here to give all four cars a full in-depth review! He'll be checking out their designs, practicality, interiors, and what they re like to drive. And in each case, he ll compare them all against each other before deciding on an overall winner! PutThatCoffeeDown: Horrible CVT box, flappy paddles that don t even work with the gearbox, fake sounds to fool you that it s changing gear, not the biggest boot, can t touch a focus for fun & handling, the DSG golf box is great, the Civic looks no better than the new Astra, yet wins? Ok.
I d probably take a nearly new Octavia vRS hatchback for the same money- better in every department.

2022 We are still manufacturing we are still promoting old technology burning fossil fuel we need to make the change very quickly to do that we need education we need to say to people what hydrocarbons are doing to our planet these things should have been banned most probably at least 10 years ago. It's amazing that so posedly intelligent people are carrying on with this Tom foodery. Which means basically anthropogenic extinction is speeding up. You got half a brain cell just give it a thought if I can work it out I'm sure people who are meant to be more superior than me can work this out it's quite bloody simple follow the science. I'm to end the toxic fossil fuel war age #buzzofftoxic

yeah back in the 70s they would've been considered intermediate/mid size executive sedans/saloons depending on which market they were being sold in like the Toyota Camry is classified as in the US now or the Mercedes Benz E Class if your looking for a Mid Size Luxury car to the US Saloon is another name for a station wagon/beach wagon granted I probably feel that way because I came home from the hospital as a newborn in a 1979 Toyota Corolla SE station Wagon while younger brother came home from the Hospital as a newborn in a Subaru XT turbo which was a 3 door hatchback

Houston, Houston in the blind, this is Mission Specialist Ryan Stone reporting from the Shenzhou. I'm about to undock from Tiangong. and I have a bad feeling about this mission.
Reminds me of a story.
Never mind, Houston, never mind the story! Ah. It's starting to get hot in here. OK. Alright the way I see it, there's only two possible outcomes. Either I, make it down there in one piece and I have one hell of a story to tell. Or I burn up in the next ten minutes. Either way whichever way, no harm no foul.
Cos either way, it'll be one hell a ride.

I wouldn't go for any of the cars in this group, I'd probably be looking at one of the KIAs or Hyundais, but not the Ns (too focused for a family car. In order to get similar specs to the Koreans, you'd have to fork out another 10K (especially so if you go for the VW, and the driving experience is just as good. And the Koreans really do come loaded, even in relatively low spec levels.

The thing I've never understood are manufacturers having screens stick up from the dash robbing visibility in some cars. I've got a MK3. 5 Focus and the screen being built into the dash makes much more sense to me and doesnt look out of place with visibility being great.
Just to add on the Focus aswell that the bottom part of the rear seats fold up so the back parts go flat.

The designer that was at Peugeot and now at Renault is the hottest shit in car design. I've never seen so many gorgeous looking normal cars ever. Any other companies like Vauxhall copying with the RoboCop looking futuristic look is just amazing. The days of blobby, nothing every cars is over for now. The Pug 208 GTI is a thing of beauty. New Kia's are insane as well

small but comes with a big price, especially the european brands compared to the asia market.
i remember the opel corse 2-3 years ago atleast where i live started from 15900eu and now it reached 19900eu while around the same price i can buy a hyundai i30 fastback.

How about none of these and just get a Toyota Corolla. With the 1. 8L it will be more economical than the Civic. It will be far more reliable than the European cars and with the up to 10 year warranty (with each Toyota dealer service) it's a no brainer

I dont understand why the strongest engine in Astra is the 1. 2 Turbo petrol with 130 hp/230 Nm. I have that engine in Corsa F and its really punchy but that is a much smaller and lighter car. Also who would ever choose a 115 HP 2. 0 diesel in a Golf?

Seems like Matt liked the Civic to begin with. How is it the most practical with that sloped back? Also it sounded way noisier in the Civic compared to the Golf and Focus.
Civic is a good car, but this didnt seem like an honest review.

I don't understand the flags? Which one is British? Not the Astra because that's a German car made by stellantis, and not the ford, that's also a German car made by an American company? I see three German cars and one Japanese.

I'd take any of them over a disgusting SUV/crossover. Suv's don't really offer any of the practicality they promise. Yet they still have all of the drawbacks you'd expect from a brick with the centre of gravity of a tower block

Why oh why are light bars appearing on everything. They look awful not future, they blind you if your travelling in the opposite direction and did I mention they look awful like what we thought the future would be in the 80s

Where I live, people drive cars smaller than this size because they are incompetent at driving! Toyota Yaris, Honda Jazz, Mazda 1 etc all driven nervously and below the speed limit! Get 'em off the road!
