Fix a loose column shifter on ford vehicles. This video will show you how to fix your loose column shifter for an automatic car, specifically a Ford, Mazda, Lincoln, or Mercury. A loose shifter can prevent your car from starting because you cant get into Park or Neutral. It can also leave you stranded by not allowing you to get into Reverse or Drive. I will show you how to identify the problem, tighten the bolts and prevent the problem from occurring again in the future. How to Align your Car's Shift Indicator

Got a automatic f 150 xl single cab short box rwd, found those two bolts feels all the way tight like no gap shown here. My shifter has play between park and reverse just a little but enough that if i dont hold it into park all the way it makes a terrible screeching noise, still starts and runs good just wondering if someone could help me out if i need to unscrew them and put the thred lock on or reef on them more jk haha or is it something else like that rubber piece underneath the end of the shifter right before it attaches to the steering column? Any help would be awesome thanks

Thanks Chris that was a really good video. I noticed something in the last couple of years with your videos your voice seems to be changing. You sound a lot older now I guess before you must have sounded like a teenager or something. Anyway great video man keep up the great work look forward to seeing next one

I just fixed my 1998 ford Explorer that wouldn't go into park. wouldn't start unless I put in Neutral and sometimes vehicle would even roll. THIS was the problem, loose T30 bolts. THANK YOU for video. Alot easier than other videos that only mention the Bushings under steering Column. Check this first.

I have this same problem with my Ford. I did exactly what you said and I did see the 2 bolts and they were loose. But the issue I have is one of this bolts is missing. Do you know the size of that bolt. And do you know where I can get those bolts from. Very helpful video thank you.

Thank you for this. Been on a run of bad luck trying to get my E350 past safety check, and just when I fixed it all, my shifter stopped going into park. Was feeling hopeless until I watched this & tried it. Now she shifts like brand new, I can't thank you enough.

I just got home from work, tried to throw it in park, thought it was. Turned my Ranger off and oh boy did we start rolling. I just checked 4 other videos after yours and I'm sure this is the problem, thank you so much for all your videos!

best explained how to fix video I think I've ever seen. Tells and shows what the problem is and how to fix it. Shows where the location is and what tools to fix it with. Could not ask for anything more! Great job!

2000 Lincoln Town Car, worked like a charm. A little more crawling and contorting, but it beats wrenching the shift lever back and forth trying to start the car at inopportune times. Good on you, brother!

Dude! Your info is always spot on! You helped me fix my 2003 Ford F-150! I was stranded the other morning bc I couldnt get it into Park and started early one morning this week. You rock! Thanks!

An easy fix but one major problem. Working yourself in upside down under the dash and getting stuck there until a neighbor come by and helps you out. But only after they can stop laughing.
