The 25 year rule has nothing to do with anything mentioned in this video. Mercedes Benz was concerned about dealers losing profit over people importing their favorite car rather than going to a dealer here in the US. Blame Mercedes Benz for this. Bill Gates who is friends with Bill Clinton wanted to import a car newer than 25 years old and due to its small production number less than 500 and for preservation purposes, the show or display rule came to play which means an R34 can be imported here now if you were lets say import a V-Spec or R-tuned R34 as only 19 were only made (18 silver and 1 midnight purple ) and can only drive 2500 miles annually until it turns 25. Thank Bill Clinton and Bill Gates for that one.

You could get a R32 for 5000 five years ago. The prices have gone up so much that its not even worth it anymore. You are going to pay: R32 price in Japan: 20k-25kfrom USA importer: 30k-35kR33 price in Japan: 30k-35kfrom USA importer: 40k-45kR34 price in Japan: 40k-45kfrom USA importer: 50k-55kI live well within my means, but most people live well outside their means. Regardless if it's your dream car or not, for the average consumer or GTR fanboys it's not a wise financial decision. Most will not be able to afford there dream car. For myself, I might just buy one in Japan then flip it and sell it in the states.

To think, Mercedes-Benz is kind of to blame for this pathetic 25 year law. Makes me loathe them quite a bit. The only car that they made which I ever really cared for was the 300SL Gullwing but that car costs 7 figures I guess I could give a mention to the SLS AMG which came out later but that didn't last too long sadly. Either way I felt that they were a pretty overrated car manufacturer to begin with. But that's just one person's humble opinion.

So dealers got angry because consumers were buying cars from whoever and wherever they felt like, under a free market. They went to bribe the government for more power over said market and the socialists in Congress were more than happy to get bribed and write more laws restricting freedom of market. But wait, California wants to be a socialist sanctuary state, so soon enough you won't be allowed to have a gas powered motor because muh environment.

I still do nut know how to import a Skyline GTR. I learned early in the video I can buy one from Top Rank in CA, but not how to import one. Also, take note East Coasters: You can (and should) go to Japanese Classics in Richmond, VA or Driver Motorsports in Lynchburg, VA. JDM Expo (a Japanese Importer) has an office in NYC. May be a few others. So how do I import a Skyline GTR? I guess I don't - I go to an importer?

There are clean r34s in Japan in storage right now going for 3-7grand. And they will store them and take care of them until they are ready for import. Now if you want a clean r34gtr than I bet you will pay a premium for sure but there are warehouses full of skylines ready to roll. Now is the time to jump on them while you can still pick up a clean r32 or r34 for less than 10k.

Part of the reason why 25 years is the mandatory limit is that 25 years is when third party and oem parts manufacturers finally stop producing parts for cars in order to repair them. Bring in a car younger than 25 years and you could effectively use it as a parts car and bypass buying oem parts. Useless idea I know as you can just buy used parts from a junkyard.

California is doing such a great job with it's increase of poor people who can't survice their cars, the rebirth of smog problems in shit holes like LA and San Fran, and their draconic regulations that allow the police to bully anyone and everyone who even thinks of driving a car. good job, Democrats.

I visited Top Rank last week and had a chance to speak with Sean. Very knowledgeable guy. Despite me not setting up an appointment (didn't know) as required, he showed me around and answered my questions as to how to get a R34. They've got my business, that's for sure.
