What the hell, bro'? You said Hulki's name CORRECTLY Taa Daa Only 134 cars had genuine fires(almost all 1984 models. The others (the 20% you spoke of) showed mechanical symptoms of pre-fire conditions, CAUSED by poor component design and inferior manufactured engine parts, I might add, SUPPLIED TO PONTIAC FROM CHEVROLET Chevy hated the design, saw it as competition to the Vette, and asshole GM corporate (dick)Head Roger Smith concurred, cutting Pontiac's budget for new styling, interior mods, and bigger, better engines for the '88 model year. Instead, all the Fiero got was balance shafts for the Iron Duke, AND the Pontiac designed( but Lotus-inspired) suspension units, front and rear, and steering system upgrades. Aaargh.

It was sold sa commuter car for girls, It had no power steering So can't turn wheels if standing still. Only 3 turns rack on it. Fire car burns in front, engine are in rear, it it was the pcv rubber that failed and started to leak on the stock pipe header below. Car outran the vw golf gti from same time. Fail points are: Weak unvented brakes. Stuck headlights. Crappy head lights, as sealed beam. Tiny fuel tank in middle of car. Leaking sunroofs and dropping inner roofs (like on all other American cars. Crappy plastic interior that cracks. On 1988 you can't buy new rear bearings as gm 'never' sold them as spares. Seats can't be moved back, if over 1, 90. It came stock with sub woofer stock. And so on. I got a blue 1987GT v6 2, 8L

My first car was a used '85 Fiero. Saved up my money working the summers and bought it in 1992 right before I graduated high school. It truly was a godawful piece of junk, but I still loved it and thought I was cool as hell driving around in it. The engine often overheated, it leaked oil like a sieve, the dash instruments all quick working after a couple months, the brakes barely worked even after being totally replaced (in fact I often resorted to using the emergency brake if I needed to make a quick stop. I drove it for close to three years until one day the engine simply seized up. It sat in my parents driveway for several years before they eventually let some guy haul it away for junk for 50.

My broke a roommate right after highschool got the last GT that was the showroom display by using his dad's name as him and the owner of the dealership were golf buddies. Of course my buddies dad didn't know this as he was kicked out for something else but yeah. Took them 8 months to find it too. Another friend had the base model which was insanely funny as he was 6'4 driving a girls car.

Great interesting vid. But Why is he yelling so much? Also someone needs to get them a proper sound engineer to manage that horrible recording level. Hurts so much every time he raises his voice and the mics peak like that. Damn near ruins the videos. Get someone who knows their audio, 2. 1MM subs you can afford it

The EPA ratings at the time were grossly overstated, so that 50 mpg's you quote, on a good day will be in the mid 30's. The Iron Duke was not very fuel efficient when compared to other 4 cylinder engines of the day. When you look it up on the EPA site using todays calculations you get 29 to 33 highway and 21 city

0. 7% caught on fireNot 20%, still, that's 0. 7% more than should have caught on fire but it was enough to ruin its reputation forever. I think James meant to say that 20 caught fire per month adding up to a total of 260 cars catching fire. Easy mistake. This episode is still probably the greatest

Pop up and down headlights is a smash hit I remember my 2 buddy's racing. One dude is and import lover. Had a 1996 eclipse rs atx with an intake, lowered, exhaust ect. My other buddy had a 1987 fiero gt. Bone stock but atx as well. The eclipse guy thought imports are faster. And got smoked.
