First car I bought was a 2012 Honda accord with 102k miles for 5000 from a guy who was selling it for a friend who fixes up cars. The motor mounts were busted, there were LED strips along the carpet and front bumper, the tire pressure sensor was broken and always on, the engine was leaking oil from an unknown area, the oil pan has silicon or something at the bottom, and it had overspray on the front fender. I wouldn't of bought the car if it wasn't for my dad. He managed to get the price to 5000 from 5750 from just mentioning the problems. After buying it and driving it home, we found that the battery was dead and no good. I'm still driving it and slowly fixing it. Replaced 2 of the motor mounts, still shakes while idling, espessially in reverse. Part of me thinks that I got scammed but at this point I see fixing car as a learning experience.

Theres a lot of people selling nintendo switches for low prices here in the Philippines but then when you look at their Carousell (similar to craigslist) ad, theyre located so far away from everyone. They do this so you will be forced to send the money first and wait for them to ship the item to you. They will also beg you to message them on you cellphone instead of the in app messaging system cause if they get suspended by Carousell, you wont see it. I was lucky enough to see the user get suspended. In fact i was able to see the same user again but on a different account, so i decided to do the right thing and say hi to her and mock her. She gave me this excuse that shes using her brothers account and she got suspended for some reason.

Yeah I was selling my go kart, and somebody offered to buy it. He asked if a check is ok, and my dad said, to get a certified money order. I told him the same. He sends it, and it's just a check. So, I tell him this. No response. 3 days later a new number tells me word for word what he told me in the first text. I kept getting these even after I took down the listing. My parents made me sell it after getting a car, but I really wa wanted to keep it, as it was a dirt oval spec kart that went 50mph. never even got to drive it before my parents made me sell it. ( not to the scammer. ) I only got 100 bucks from my dads friend, despite it being worth 1k.

If it seems too good to be true it probably is. I was in the market for a sport bike and found a really cheap one on CL. The scammer told me that they were in a different state and that the bike was in a shipping crate in the state it was advertised in. Said that it was their sons' that had passed away and that they couldn't bare looking at it or something. Told me that they could have it shipped to me after they've recieved payment through the secure way of ebay pay or something like that.

i was selling a car and agreed on a price with a buyer. he came and handed the cash, was in a huge rush to get the title signed and i was like hold on let me count this. it wasnt even close to the amount we agreed upon, and he kept saying thats what we agreed upon and if we could sign the title and was getting upset. i invited this guy into my house to do the paperwork. never seen something like that, thought i was gonna have to beat his ass in my own house. be careful out there folks.

Bought a curbstoned 2001 Toyota corolla for 2xxx dollars and it had 96000 miles on it. Changed the oil, replaced the struts, replaced the brakes, put 120K on it and sold it when it broke down the first time. Indian dealership w/ two brothers running it posing as private sellers, but despite the body damage etc it was a solid car until it was hit later by a Ford Taurus.

I had the same intersection accident but the difference was the guy was driving 65 mph with his family and his son not in his seat, I stopped at the intersection, checked if there are oncoming cars and then proceed to go left that's when i saw the lights, he swerved and hit a street light. I was in panic because i didn't know if the kid was okay so i stopped.

Another insurance scam is the classic brake check where they slam the brakes so hard that you end up hitting them no matter what. It doesn't matter how good your brakes are, they will literally come to a full stop on an interstate highway, make you crash into them, and put the blame on you. That's why so many people nowadays carry dashcams or license to carry.

I got curbstoned. Holy mackerel It would be a freaking what not to do encyclopedia to write it down but it was horrible. Just 5 exits down the road my car was super overheating. They said there was nothing they could do. That was just the beginning. I still have that Lexus IS300 factory 5 speed and factory LSD. And it was title washed also.

he's right. working with collision insurance i can attest that some drivers change their statements after the fact. you should have documentation through police reports. you can demand it if the police say that there's no one hurt so we dont need to come out there. just tell them that the other party is being shady and might change their statement.
