CHEVY ASTRO VAN - Everything You Need to Know Up to Speed Dan Jones: I had one, a 95 like all cheby's I owned it was not a good vehicle. The fuel pump and alternator went bad before it had 60 thousand miles. When I bought mine in 97 it had 16k on the odometer. After it got up to 90k had to replace the maf sensor then the fuel injection spider. I managed to put 245k on it. the catalytic converter went bad, muffler was rusted out. water pump replaced. The last day I drove it to a storage facility the idle began to surge. I never drove it after that. In storage it was about 100 feet from the Big Thompson river in CO. The river flooded one day and the Astro was totally submerged I abandoned it there the business had no flood insurance.

Awwww No mention of the composite leaf springs in the rear? We had one of these growing up and my mother hated it. But she hated vans. And my dad (a Chevy man from the word go and a mechanic with his own shop) loved it at first but grew to hate it as it needed more and more maintenance hindered by glaring design discrepancies. It got to the point where he hated it so much (it still makes me laugh to think about it) he drove it to the local junkyard, went inside and gave them the keys and title. He knew the owner of the scrap yard and he pulled the transmission and wheels and crushed the rest of it.

Bought a 96 Safari new off the lot just before getting married. awd, towing pkg, limited (or is it locking) rear diff w. 411 ratio, rear ac, Dutch doors etc. The front to rear power distribution was perfect. It really dug into the snow and propelled you forward When the head gaskets went (that goddamn GM failing head gasket bs) we chose to abandon it. Ive regretted that decision thru three Ventures and one Montana. I miss that Middle Van

I have a 2005 Astro and I call it the Vuck. I will haul eveyrthing people, atv's, riding mowers and can also haul my big trailer or 22ft pontoon. I have kept the stock engine but took the transmission out and rebuilt it for more heavy duty use and reliable hauling. I am considering swapping the engine with a 4bt cummins and an Allison transmission this winter so I can get better fuel economy as it only gets about 14mpg.

I was going to get one of these by virtue of being mostly a GM guy and because they are small (not hardcore though, I like all american cars. Damn, didn't know they had a manual one though. That fact alone makes me want to get one now. I'm quite happy with my current vehicle though, and if it doesn't crap out on me I'll probably just keep it for a while because overall it's runs really well and i'm growing on it.

Dad had one as a company vehicle hauling newly shipped coffins to funeral homes and then later traded it to someone else in the company for a caravan. Just recently we bought it back for having at the cabin and bombing around on gravel roads. Now its gonna be my project van, like dude have you seen the offroad mods on these things? Makes the trail blazer look like a mall crawler

Now I am gonna be searching for Astro conversion van Need a new project and this would be the ultimate one Paint it Metallic black and air brush the grim reaper on a horse on the side. oh and the inside would have to be decked out with colored lights. I will name it Astro death wagon And I have a feeling a high output 305 V8 would fit in it

Ive been driving full sized gmc conversion vans for the past 25yrs. I bought an 04 Safari last yr. I like the safari, pulled out the middle seat and its great I can sleep in it and my rottie loves it with both side windows open and open road. This is the first 6cyl van that ive owned.

Just watched FMA: Brotherhood for the first time recently. Have there always been this many memes from it, and I just never realized them till now? Or did I receive a superpower where whatever shows I watch experience a small uptick in memes regardless of when they came out.
