I suspect it was supposed to look like a larger and fancier S-Klass because, in a lot of places around the world (Eastern Europe, Asia, but mostly the Southeast part and probably also in the Arab peninsula, too, that's the most recognizable car that comes to mind when people think about luxury sedans. Especially recognizable for people who can't afford a luxury sedan, and don't usually spend time comparing the various luxury sedan models in any depth.
And, coincidentally, in a lot of the same places, there is a tendency to show off that you have a lot of money. So, you show off by buying something that's recognizible as an expensive car.
That's why there have been a lot of S-Klass carbon-copies coming from places like China and South Korea over the years. And that's probably why Mercedes wanted to keep the design similar,

This is a REAL limousine. The bomb diggitty big dog of all limousines. Seriously, this thing makes any Cadillac or Lincoln limo look like a Yugo.
This might be one of the only TRUE limousines of any modern cars in the truest, most purely vintage sense of the word. The real limousines of the 1920s and 30s had an audio communication system between the back and the driver.

It is crazy to see a 500, 000 dollar 20-year-old car's technologies and see how those features then took 20 years to be implemented in mid-tier vehicles. Like the frosted glass is available in the new Venza, and the intercom system is now in a Honda Odyssey. Very cool to see how they've been added to lesser cars over the years

I think that all of the rear seat controls were copied to the front seat for the case where there is nobody in the back seat and the driver has to arrange the vehicle setup. This will prevent him from ever entering the back seat. NOT for the case where the rear passenger is too lazy to move the curtain.

Doug is the type of guy who mess with all the buttons and car setup, so when the owner get his car back, all the lights are on, the windshield wipers will start for no reason and all the sits are heated, and the battery is dead.

Too bad the car failed otherwise it was better than the RR at its time. Even the newest Phantom doesn't have some of the amazing stuff this 15 year old car has.

7: 56 that flickering is due to the voltage applied to the material in the glass to make it clear. I think it is some piezo electric stuff, not sure though.

Doug is the kind of guy who dresses, for the occasion. Makes the effort for the full ambiance effect. Subbed, and always a thumbs up! : )
