Yes, I buy unreliable cars! Today I'm going to explain WHY Doug DeMuro buys unreliable cars, and give you my reasoning for buying cars that aren't known for their reliability -- which some people think makes me crazy!

Funny that some people go crazy over Doug or other people buying unreliable cars. Who cares? Jaguars back in the days were unreliable pieces of shit, but people liked them because of it. When Jaguar was bought by Ford they became reliable, but people who before loved Jaguars didn't like them anymore because they were. Yes, too reliable! Go figure. Sometimes things like being unreliable is what gives it it's charms. There can be something exciting in not knowing how far you'll get, and what experiences you might have on the way just because of it.

I have to say that your explanation is the most honest one I've NEVER heard from another living soul. However, given the context you presented, it makes a lot more sense to me than anything I surmised up to this point. So, I will continue to drive (with GREAT pleasure) my two boring cars, my Lexus ES300h, and my Porsche 911. the two MOST reliable automakers in the world.

Scotty: A mechanic, prefer economic and reliable cars that get you from A to B.
Doug: A car guy, perfer unique and quirky cars that get you from A to B while having fun.
Totally different people with opposite priorities.
Imagine Doug starts with Thisss is my Toyota Camry and it has no quirks, end of content.

Love you Doug, but Scotty Kilmer gives the best advice for the majority of people buying cars. I tell people to buy toyotas/hondas. I personally never listen to his advice because I would rather a fun cool car. BUT! His advice is really good and has helped tons of people out. Please don't discredit Scotty!

I feel you Doug I have a 2006 mini Cooper s that is very modified and everyone say they don't get why I drive a car that has so many issues and they keep telling be to get rid of it but I just love it when its running. Life is too short to drive boring car and AAA is cheap

How ridiculous that you had to explain this.
To those people. Why to they think there are more than 10 different cars in the world? Any car that is the 11th or worse reliable care should just not be continued and then we have 10 models to choose from. HAHA.

Coming from an RX350 owners perspective, I wish I could buy fun cars but like you said I need to be somewhere everyday. I d love to have a 2JZ-GTE SWAPPED GS300 but that will have to wait. Do what you do Doug, it s gotten you this far.

Thank you, Doug, for making this! I think this video explains how easy it is for people, myself included, to draw conclusions based on incomplete information. Let s all try to do better by not judging each other. :-)

When people ask me why I buy what I buy, I should just play this video. VW (x3, Saab, Volvo (x2, Mercedes. There were some more reliable ones in there, Honda and Acura, but I gravitate to European stuff every time.

Those that complain how you spend your money are the same that want a communist country where we can share your money 100%. Screw that! Imma buy me an unreliable fun car. Hmmmm so much out there.
