I had a Freelander and the rear window would suddenly decide to open itself. Even if I was not in the car. I have owned defenders, and a discovery which I loved even though they did break down. That Freelander though. One door would not close properly from new, and the magic back window and fuel pump that diden't. Grrrrr The new defender is really nice though.

Ironically all this highway driving when the car is pretty new will actually break it in in such a way that Doug's Defender will probably be more reliable over the course of its life than most of its brethren.
Best thing you can do with any new car is quickly put several thousand highway miles on it.

Sorry Doug you are wrong defender is better than x5 or gle. You are very wrong. Land Rover is a ultra luxury brand while Mercedes maybach gls is a normal gls with upgrades. plus defenders has a combination of luxury and off-road chops that's it self makes it better than the rivals

It s shocking to me that people actually applaud when a brand new car goes only 20. 000 miles without major issue s.
In that time having only 2 check engine lights en 2 times a broken sunroof is not great in my opinion, that s sad!

I mean little nuisances are to be expected from time to time if you're talking about a defender. They drive and feel great but don't hold up at all. They have a bad rep in terms of reliability because they deserve it.

wow a brand new vehicle with less than 25, 000 miles has no real issues? Oh give it time. it's a Land Rover, and the only people who never have trouble with them are what I like to call big fat fibbers; )

I have a toyota rav4 2021 and did 60, 000 miles in 11 months and guess what! Nothing broke!

Brand New, 20. 000 HIGHWAY miles in a vehicle supposedly made for off roading. Should have zero problems.
Land Rover is garbage when it comes to quality and reliability.
