This is the Range Rover id buy if I were to ever want a Range Rover. These little things ROCK. They come in to the shop I work at for maintenance all the time, theyre super easy to work on because I suspect Ford donated the 2. 0l EcoBoost as its power plant. The interior is super luxurious but also functional. You definitely know youre in a Range Rover and not a Ford Escape, with whom its priced very competitively for the same reliability. I think Range Rover has done a great thing with the Evoque and that it will shake up the market a little.

I drove a new Evoque last weekend. Worst car I've ever driven, and I'm not even being facetious. It had the worst brake modulation leading you to either get too much brake force or not enough, the transmission (ZF's horrendous 9-speed) clunks into every gear and you can actually hear it stumbling into gears, the 300HP engine felt anemic and sounded like a Toyota Corolla's engine, the steering was overly light and it felt like it was severely overweight whenever you hustled around a curve. I don't know how anyone could live with this thing.

I have an 06 Land Rover LR3 and I love it, when its working that is. Once I fix one issue another one somehow arises. A friend of mine has a 2019 Velar and it was in the shop not even a month after having it for computer system issues. Land Rover makes beautiful cars and has great ideas in their features and designs, but they need to work harder to make the features more functional and have them not break so easily.

That control system is so ridiculously complicated. You have to have double the number of actions to adjust a basic functionality in the car. How is that improvement? Oh and that's not to mention that those door handles also suck. To complicated for no reason. Even supercars have simpler handles that dokt require you to press a button to unfurl them before you can even press another button to open them.

Buttons, or lack of is getting to hard to figure out while driving. (driven quite a few loaners. ha) I highly prefer to have my buttons. You can just go directly to the button you need, not search for it in a menu. LandRover is over-engineering their vehicles and they are getting to complex and hard to maintain. Not to mention, buying the car is not the expensive part.

I don't know why car manufacturers would switch to all touch screen if they haven't nailed down the responsiveness yet. If I had the money for this car that would be an absolute deal breaker. I want things to happen when I push the button, not a second after. When driving you need instant responsiveness so you spend as little time as possible worrying about your infotainment.

Ok, lets add lots of camera trickery to avoid admitting that the basic design is so poor its unable to show its driver directly what is essential to drive it safely. My ten year old, fifteen year old design, car provides perfect all round vision with no blind spots the windows and mirrors do not cover. And this is progress?

When I come outside and there is 8 inches of snow on my roof, I wonder if the shark fin-mounted camera will be frozen in place even after I brush the snow off. And if I will be locked out of the car if the battery dies (since the door handles wont pop out.

It bothers me that the camera view under the hood isn't real. There is an image delay and maybe a small animal could cross under the car from the side or something. Either put another camera under the bonnet or don't bother. Cool idea though.
