The whole point of the 86 is to be a learning tool for car control, just like the AE86 was. Not to be some Hoonigan type drift missile that happens to be a 10-second-quarter-mile car for people who j- - - off to spec sheets. Having a car with a much faster engine will make the driver be too lenient on the car's straight line performance, and not putting the full effort to be quick on the corners, to make up for its adequate straight line performance on track. To say 'tHiS cAr sTilL nEeDs mOAR pOWaA' is daft as it will bump up the price even more and make the car less attainable for the enthusiasts who want to learn. If you ever been to Japan, you would know by now that the speed limits are comically low, so it makes very little sense. The fact that you call BS on 'beefing up components' shows your lack of understanding with engineering a great car.

One of the last true cars in existence. Back in the day I wouldn't like this car, but now I love them. But yeah, they are slow, though it's not necessarily a bad thing because they are fast where it matters. They have insanely good handling. They are fun as heck!
And I'm laughing at the VW just casually overtaking it, even though he was flooring it. I'm very familiar with these cars (the old BRZ) and even my crappy Impala could outrun it in a straight. Very easily. Another funny thing is the back seats. You don't understand how small and useless they are until you get in one. I'm 6'2 and I had to sit sideways, and still felt small XD

I like it, but my problem with it is the new Hyundai Elantra N will be a better buy
It's larger, but about 50 HP more powerful, so it will be just as quick.
Better interior, with a fully adjustable suspension, exhaust, steering, even differential
And it has 4 doors, 2 years more warranty & a larger trunk, so it is was more useable everyday.
And this Toyota is built by Subaru, so you aren't getting Toyota reliability from Subaru

Doug De Dork. He gives the most basic reviews. You can tell that he actually doesn't know much about what he is talking about. For example he didn't mention that the gearbox has been upgraded and strengthened. Great for tuning. This car is meant for people who basically want to modify their car.

Just seems like alot of money for an affordable car. I understand everything is expensive now but really nothing about that 86 screams a 30K+ price tag. At that price point they will not sell very well. the 86 and brz will probably only have 2 to 3 model year run and then be cancelled.

Feels like every auto reviewer was given instructions to say it's faster and highlight. but really isn't competitive. Also let's talk about the folks that drive these. I like the car but I'd be embarrassed to drive it as an adult since so many kids hoon them.

Do you think maybe they put Alcantara on the dash to reduce glare. I know at certain times the glare coming from the dash can be distracting. The Alcantara would be good at absorbing the light which would reduce glare on the windscreen.

Alcantara interior is never design for nice to touch. It mainly used as an ANTI-GLARE and non slip interior material and this is why put on top of dash area where driver will always look at and on seating surfaces.

At first reveal I hated the refresh looks but seeing it in person and especially in the premium trim, it is one beautiful looking coupe at a steal of a cost. I see it as a modern Porsche 944 and I love it.

if there was one word that i could use to describe it, it would be athletic. the wheel arches are elegant and yet so outspoken, they look like beautiful hips. it reminds me of the lexus RC F
