Heres Why New Cars are Easy to Steal Sigma: SCOTTY You cant record the button press from the keyless ignition systems as it uses a rolling code and the previous code was invalidated upon use. The way people by pass your system is by using your key itself They use a range extender to amplify your signal from just outside your house or place of business The car then thinks you are just outside the car when you pull the handle and it lets the criminal in, it will even allow the criminal to start the ignition. The best way to prevent this is keep your key fob in a RFID blocking case, or if its in your home, a Faraday cage locker in your key closet. In terms of rewritting the code, you are correct its very easy todo

Scotty, there is a place in California that specializes in selling used battery packs that are still good. This is because the people in California are eco nuts so hybrids are all over the place. So they get wrecked why their batteries are still good and the junkyards get filled up with these cars. So what this company does is buy them, test them to make sure they are good. Then resell them. They take them apart and test each smaller battery inside to make sure there are no weak ones. If they find one or more weak ones they take good ones from another pack and fix it and sell it. i don; t have any information on this place i heard about it from someone else.

Scotty Im guessing you dont work on many newer LS GM V8. They definitely are not weaker than older ones. And also that 5. 3 with cylinder on demand is burning oil because hose to separate technical service bulletins one is a valve cover. For a certain amount of time they put the Breather hole for the PVC in the wrong spot of the valve cover and the pushrod would squirt oil pressure into the hole and suck it through the PVC and there is another one for the lifter bleed off valve

Heres what it says in the Toyota Corollas owners manual says about the Engine Immobilizer: The vehicles keys have built-in transponder chips that prevent the engine from starting if a key has not been previously registered in the vehicles on-board computer. Never leave the keys inside the vehicle when you leave the vehicle. This system is designed to help prevent vehicle theft but does not guarantee absolute security against all vehicle thefts.

Im wondering about installation of battery cut-off switches in some of the newest vehicles with all their integrated electronics. As you know, most home electronics arent really off when you turn them off-- they go to standby mode, using a small amount of power to keep your settings or download updates on off-use hours. These new cars work the same way. So I wonder if cutting off the battery power would harm the electronics?

Any help is appreciated I have a 2010 Honda Fit manual transmission and it makes a rattling noise only when in low RPMs. If the car is higher revs it does not make the noise. I thought it was a loose heatshield but that was not the case. Also if in neutral and you rev the engine it wont make that noise at all. It only makes the noise when In gear. Please provide any insight, thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hey Scotty Im driving a 2003 Ford F150 with check engine light on due to the previous owner chopping off all the cats replaced it with straight pipes and removing the O2 sensors. My younger brother bought the truck and didnt think to check underneath before he bought it would replacing the cats and O2 sensors improve my fuel economy and make the check engine light go away?

On my Toyota Corolla which has push-to-start, it also comes with an engine immobilizer to help prevent the car being stolen. However, in the owners manual, Toyota cannot guarantee it will prevent the car from being stolen. Heres a good tip - if parking in a big parking lot or garage, lock the car doors from the inside and at home do not keep you key fob near your car.

How do I get my question answered. I have a problem with my 98 mercury grand marquis ls. The car will be hard to start in the morning or after work. I would need to try n start it and press on the gas pedal. I had it checked the fuel pump is working good just changed the battery. And I changed the fuel filter. I also got some coils n spark plugs changed

Hello sir, I need some advice, what would be the best election for a reliable car. 1999 Acura CL 2. 3 automatic. With 153000 miles. clean tittle original engine, or 2001 Honda Prelude Type SH, manual trans, with a junk yard engine with 123000 miles. Hard Decision if I had the money I will buy both and start my own private collection haha
