I Just Saved My Customer 12, 000 at the Toyota Dealership, Here\'s How Isaac: The dealership I picked up my car at tried to do some sly things too. Without me asking, they tried to tell me what my monthly payment would be, and if I'm okay with it. They threw out a random number. I wasnt signing anything yet but I just agreed its doable for me. They then proceeded to talk about maintenance packages etc. They said they have some coupons which would not raise my monthly payment to the amount I said I'm comfortable with. When they walked away i thought about the monthly payment thinking it shouldn't be that high for the price of the car. I decided not to get any extra packages and my monthly payment actually turned out significantly lower. I understand packages get you service and have costs, but the way they phrased it, tried to seem like they were giving it away to me. They honestly didnt even explain how the coupon was actually saving me in terms of dollar amounts. I'm pretty sure that coupon talk was all talk.

Scotty, I bought a Honda Odyssey in San Antonio and they sold me on a vehicle tracking service called Kahu. I told them I did not want this mechanism on my vehicle, and they told me it would cost hundreds of dollars to remove the mechanism. I only obliged to the first year, which cost me a small fortune. I refuse to pay for any more. The reasons? First, the Honda Odyssey is not a typical vehicle to be stolen. Second, the tracking service would offset my insurance as it had tracking ability. It didn't Third, without the garbage service, I would have paid a whopping 35 more per year, but to have it, cost me almost 1200 a year Please let the public know about this ripoff scam, and that the Kahu service only offers me the confidence in knowing my car will start the next day (it displays the battery level. I can't believe dealerships are ripping people off by installing garbage solutions to be un-installed at such a high rate.

Don't blame the salesman, he in fact may have been telling the customer the truth at the time. What is more than likely is the Finance and Insurance manager (the F&I guy) is the one who added those hidden extra charges to the contract. It is the finance manager who writes up the contract, not the salesman. In fact, it is the F&I manager who makes more money than ANY other employee at the car dealership. Yes, much more than the salesmen. Believe me, I used to work at a major car dealership and know how these things work. Are there shady salesman? Sure. But more often than not, it is the F&I guy who jumbles the paperwork to be different than what the salesman told the customer in good faith an hour prior. Now you know the story.

Yay, Scotty: ) You pulled the gun on 'em & aimed right: ) After that vid, any lawyer would see a strong case & take it up, free, for the lady. He'd tag his fees on to the payout & get a lot more from Toyota, than the poor, ol' lady + publicity. Toyota would've whipped that payout, out of the dealer - Don't you worry: ) Now here's a chance for that car salesman: He can claim that the dealer acted over his verbal agreement? & he is blameless? The dealership should also thank you, 'cos if the case did go to court, they might have copped a fine, on top?

My first rule for buying a new vehicle is don't go to the dealer to conduct negotiations, do it via email. If you know the make, model and specification, negotiate in writing. After all, we don't feel the need to get into a back and forth when we buy most other things. If they want a sale badly enough, they'll transact the sale on your terms In that way, you keep control of the environment. They won't be able to entice you into their lair where they'll have the psychological upper hand. It's worked for me. Good luck

I used to be in sales. There is no ethics in business in the real world and the standards are constantly being lowered and lowered. While I completely believe what happened was as malicious and not accidental. why would the women lie? When Scotty got involved the potential for that tactic that salesman pulled to explode and cost reputational damage is huge. Sales are some of the WORST people you can ever meet. Nice truck buy.

Hi Scotty, but as much as I agree with on everything else you said, I must disagree with you when it comes to EVs. Today's non-electric cars only differ from their cousins, in the power-train department. The rest is as complicated and computer infested, as any electric vehicle We NEED to do something to make a dent in our climate change. People will not give up driving. So why not make driving as benign as possible?

Good job Scotty. When I bought my Taco in January 2019, I'm 64, they tried to sell me 8900 worth of smoke. By smoke I mean extended warranty, exterior small scratch and dent coverage, interior coverage, tire insurance, LoJack. My answer was NO The finance manager tried to guilt me into buying it. Well that ticked me off and he got a bigger NO Like you said read ALL the paperwork and have copies of all of it.

GM only plans to build three factories building batteries and their max capacity will not meet the needed 50% capacity. GM will not be able to make the transition to electric. Teslas Model Y will take a massive chunk out of the cross over market which makes up 40% of the US market. Tesla will kill new cross over sales from the traditional makers just like they killed luxury safer sales.
