Hey Scotty, I have a 95 Ford Ranger with a manual transmission and After about 15 min of driving with no traffic my throttle starts to stick. Ive checked my cable and its tension and its fine. Ive checked to see if the throttle body is dirty and has some debris and its clean. If im in traffic or revving a little high the rpm wont reduce until Ive come to a full stop, once I do it revs up and down reaching unnecessarily high rpm. P. S I have no clue how many miles it has because the odometer has been stuck since before I was given the truck. What do you think? -Cyree (Ky sound for pronunciation)

I have an 03 Chrysler Town and Country that was running so rich once that it wouldnt idle. It would run if I had the throttle about 1/3 of the way open. Turned out the fuel injector harness had a meltdown. The computer controlled the ground side of the injectors, and when any injector would pulse, they would all pulse. As soon as I rebuilt that part of the engine harness, it started running fine. I repositioned the harness and never had a problem with it since. The guy with the rich condition may have a similar problem. Something to consider.

One of your better Q/A videos. What you said about the CANBUS getting compromised in a crash -- its also a reason why I avoid cars in the 20 +/- year age, regardless of miles, because you can have wiring fails over time from bumping around in normal use as grommets and fasteners / connectors wear out. Just merely replacing a wiring harness can be a big job in terms of getting to it. But is there any way to test for that up front. other than generally looking at the state of the wiring and hoping for the best?

the cylinder misfire in a jeep 4. 0 is usually do to heat soak when the engine has been idling for a long time on a hot day. It overheats the injector usually the third one. it will go away when you rev the engine or when it cools back down. alot of jeep owners like to insulate their fuel lines and injectors to keep the engine from overheating the fuel which causes it to vaporize to early and not spray the appropriate amount of fuel into the cylinder causing a misfire.

Here In Finland there was one bmw 325d 2003 that had gone now over 1001480 kilometres. He had changed oil every 15 thousand kilometres and transmission oil ones in a year so every 70 thousand kilometres. He drove a-lot, but but during those million miles he broke only 3 water pumps and the cars on the second alternator. He had changed brake pads 5 times and one battery in the lifetime of the car. This was in the news.

Scotty, one of the best BMW ever made are the E 46 Chassis which is 1999-2005. I had two; and never had to put major bucks in them when both had over 160K. Both were manual and never changed the clutch. Changed the brakes twice each car. Spark plugs and a few ignition coils and battery. You cant say theyre money pits. The only reason I no longer have them is both were smashed and beyond bodily repair.

Hey Scotty, I work on fuel injection computers for A major Tractor Manufacturer, and you are dead on about them being complicated. The CANbus chips in those things pop if you just give them a hard look, let alone crash the vehicle into something. Thanks for the helpful troubleshooting tips and the High Energy acting. It puts a smile on my face

Need help Scotty. 2001 Toyota CorollaThe car stalls and I pulled the sparkplugs (5k miles on plugs) which were all white like snow. Could the engine have gotten hot even though the coolant never reports higher than 198F. What would you recommend to replace? O2 sensor (downstream) reports mostly 0. 7-0. 85 80% of the time.
