That is the big engine, 2 valve 4. 6 engine 260 hp, the smaller option was a 4 0 v6 engine about 200 hp. Nothing made 385 hp Scotty keeps repeating. Do your research please. The very limited SVT 2000 Cobra made 385 hp for 1 year and was not available for the average Joe to buy. The 99 - 01 made 320 hp advertised, those were 4 valve NA. The street king SVT 2003 - 2004 Cobra 4 valve supercharged made a underrated 390 hp 390 ft pounds torque. They actually made around 425 hp 425 torque, because of the nearly 385ish hp and torque to the rear wheels.

The 390 horsepower only came in the 03 04 Cobras with the 4. 6 DOHC Supercharged engine. The other Cobras in 99 and 01 just had the DOHC 4. 6 naturally aspirated and only had 305 horsepower. All the other upgrades on the body, interior and suspension along with the collectability of Cobras are what make them more desirable. Mine was a 94 that still had the 5. 0 pushrod engine and only made 240hp stock before all the mods I put on it. I drove it for almost 300, 000 miles before the motor finally crapped out.

The only Mustang Cobra s made for the year 2000 was the Cobra R, about 300 of them. The regular new edge Cobra was made in 1999, 2001, 2002 and then the supercharged 2003 & 2004 Cobra. 1999 Cobra owners got mad at Ford saying they made less power than advertised and went after Ford. The 2003 and 2004 Cobra s made more power than advertised.

Scotty, you were referring to the 5. 4L 385hp motor from the Cobra R. You couldn't normally get that engine, and still can't buy it from a crate/junkyard. However, it is possible to get a similar motor if you can get your hands on the DOHC 4. 6 from the 1999 and 2001 Cobra.

When I was in high school those were the new Mustangs and driving an old Mustang was driving the Fox Body 5. 0. Now it s harder to find a 5. 0 than find these. I had an 89 hatch. Actually was a pretty good car with good torque. I used to race the newer Mustangs and Camaros.

Hey Scotty! I have a 96 Mustang Cobra and I m having Charging Issues with my Car, i installed a new Alternator and New Battery because of the issue and I m still having this issue, My Alternator is not charging my Battery. Please help

I used some Rubbing compound on my fadedheadlights on my merc. Sable and it worked Great! All clear now. Not faded again yet either! Better than toothpaste, or store bought stuff for faded headlight plastic lenses!

My dad had an 84 F-150 and it had the hole rusted in the floor, you could look down in the passenger floor board and see the white line on the side of the road, I loved that old truck though.
