Today we're heading from l to Alnabru Freight Terminal in Oslo. This terminal is the main hub for all freight on rails in the Oslo Area. This is a particular long trip from l due to heaps of waiting on passing loops for westbound trains. Interesting moments in the Drammen area as I'm diverted through Sundland Depot, getting permission ot pass signals that are faulty. Later I'm diverted over the old Drammen Line between Asker and Sandvika! Yes, that means we're going OUTSIDE the tunnels this time! I'm also passing through Oslo S going up to Bryn via the Kvrner loop. All of these moments has been marked in the CHAPTERS & TIMESTAMPS below with an CHAPTERS & TIME STAMPS: 0: 00: 00 Preview 0: 01: 17 Intro 0: 02: 04 Map 0: 02: 30 l - Torpo 0: 11: 36 Torpo - Gol 0: 23: 59 Gol - Nesbyen 0: 35: 11 Nesbyen - Bergheim 0: 47: 18 Bergheim Waiting for westbound freight train 0: 49: 34 Bergheim - Fl 1: 04: 26 Fl - Gulsvik 1: 14: 02 Gulsvik Waiting for westbound GreenCargo freight train 1: 16: 04 Gulsvik - Trolldalen 1: 27: 59 Waiting for westbound passenger train 1: 29: 44 Trolldalen - Sokna 1: 45: 44 Sokna - Veme 1: 53: 36 Veme - Hnefoss 2: 04: 18 Hnefoss - Tyristrand 2: 16: 09 Tyristrand - Vikersund 2: 26: 27 Vikersund - Geithus 2: 30: 40 Geithus waiting for westbound passenger train 2: 32: 58 Geithus - mot 2: 38: 59 mot - Skotselv 2: 44: 47 mot getting TROLLED by the conTROLLer? 2: 46: 26 mot - Hokksund 2: 58: 56 Hokksund - Steinberg (Start of delays due to signal problems in Drammen) 3: 04: 24 Steinberg - Mjndalen 3: 06: 13 Mjndalen - Daler 3: 08: 56 Daler - Gulskogen 3: 12: 52 Gulskogen DIVERTED through Sundland Depot 3: 25: 50 Permission to pass a signal in movement prohibited into Drammen Station 3: 29: 38 Drammen - Brakerya 3: 34: 17 Brakerya - Lier 3: 36: 47 Lier - Asker 3: 46: 56 Asker being DIVERTED over the old Drammen Line to Sandvika (outside the tunnel) 3: 57: 25 Sandvika - Lysaker 4: 02: 04 Lysaker - Skyen 4: 03: 32 Going through Skyen in a different path 4: 06: 39 Skyen - Nationaltheatret 4: 10: 24 Nationaltheateret - Oslo Central Station (Oslo S) 4: 13: 05 Oslo Central Station - Bryn via Brynsbakken and Kvrner loop 4: 19: 03 Bryn - Alnabru freight terminal 4: 26: 12 Arriving Alnabru Freight Terminal 4: 29: 47 Shunting the Locomotive to the neighboring track (you can see the whole train) 4: 32: 33 OUTRO RailCowGirl Merch! Enjoying all your productions - so basic, maybe elementary questions (2)
- Engineer's must have pre-knowledge of the route they will be assigned - or specific diversions required - do you have an actual map that forewarns of diversions, - or are you in full contact via radio throughout the trip?
- Same / similar question - it seems you know when a speed restriction is approaching or encountered - before you actually see the signals. how are you advised to slow beforehand?
Great visuals and scenery, I focus on track switches and route the most. Thank You!

As usually in the last few years, a great video, very relaxing, very unwinding. Thank you very much!
I have a question: WHY are the poles that support the overhead lines ALWAYS placed on the outside of a curve?
For example, if the train goes to the right, the poles are on the left side, and viceversa.
What is the engineering reason behind it?

This was an amazing video RailCowGirl, thank you so much for sharing all your videos, I was aware you were driving freight now, just wondered when you started doing this and do you still work for the same company, and do you miss driving passenger trains, thanks again for sharing the beautiful scenery of Norway. From London, Ontario, Canada.

Just finished the whole video (over 4 days ). Ive cycled on my racing bike ( fixed back wheel ) with you for the 4. 5 hours. Very enjoyable, changing resistance and speed to try and match your changing speeds relatively speaking of course. Sprints between say 4 or 5 electric catenaries is good. Thanks for posting these lovely videos!

I enjoyed this video more than your passenger train videos. I loved the different stops and different stops, routes and rules that you must abide by now. The slower speeds I tend to see better views of scenery along the routes. Please keep going with your videos of the beautiful scenery of Norway.

My sister & I live in the state of Georgia USA & have become addicted to your videos. Both of us are older & can't get out to travel much & your video gives us a way to see something we would ever get the chance to see otherwise. Your videos are great & so appreciated by us old folks! Thank you!

I have been watching these videos with my partner in the evenings. They are mesmerizing. The country is so beautiful I want to retire there. But have you looked at the roads in the mountainous regions? Terrifying! And I'm no stranger to winter diving. Best to take the train.

One of the best-produced train videos ever! I traveled on this line a as a passenger, though obviously not the freight sections which were very interesting. I especially appreciated the speed and location notes. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos!

A fascinating journey and illustrates well the need for route knowledge as when you were maintaining momentum to climb out of Oslo S. What is the meaning of the sign which is a black circle on a yellow diamond?
Thanks for posting.
