Part 1 - Welsh Highland Railway - Then and Now

I have been fortunate enough to witness the renascence of a short lived railway who-s existence lived in the memories of those old enough to have seen it and photographic images of diminutive little tank engines dwarfed by the surrounding mountains. This was a railway built through the stunning Snowdonia landscape to carry slate at a time when demand was falling, in the days before mass tourism was able to give it a second chance, the last passenger train ran on 5th September 1936

Congratulations Tim - an excellent video. Thank you so much for all your hard work in making it.
My abiding memory of the reconstruction? - the work by The Black Hand Gang. My memory following the completion? - the opening ceremony by Pete Waterman - commenerating 175 years of Ffestiniog Railway and the official opening of the WHR. Can't wait to see Part Two

I'm a US mutt, part of which is Welsh. When I watch your videos in Wales, I have this strange feeling that I'm visiting home, although I've never been there. Your videos are excellent. I usually like to stay in the cab and watch from the driver's POV, but this is a brilliant collage of forward and side shots. I look forward to Part 2 (and 3 and 4 and more.

A beautifully edited video, very well done. It really does make my heart soar to see the empty track bed full of little more than ghosts and memories to the now working line. I've walked several trails around Beddgelert since the line has re-opened, a spectacular tribute to all those involved. Lovely footage.

Every now and then a diamond is discovered in a coal seam. This video is one of them. The perfect blend of history, driver's eye view, on board and trackside. Thank you for all your inspiration and hard work, viewed by me from the uttermost parts of the earth, Western Australia!

A great trip and project thanks. A part of the Wanlockhead narrow gauge in the Leadhills area of southern Scotland is also being extended. I found out by accident when I discovered two sister newspapers had used one of my pictures from 2013 for the feature about it online!

This -Castell Caernarfon- loco reminds me of the Hungarian State Railways' Mk48 class. as long as I am seeing it from a distance. the moment it comes closer and I can clearly see it and hear it, the illusion breaks down completely.
Cheers from Hungary.
