I saw this coming out of York a few days ago, wondered what it was as the livery is so different to the othe IETs. I like the blue shade, though the nose looks strange with no yellow on the central part - kind of like a kids toy train. But the important part - the seats! Well I see they have changed and, it looks like just maybe, they companies are finally listening to us? Hallelujah! At the prices on offer you can't really go wrong, although I expect every train will be packed full. It's only a pity the stations served are so limited as this will prevent me from using this service over LNER unfortunately.

They are decent trains, apart from almost half the seats - the ones beside the aisles.
The aisle is narrow, and if you end up on one of these seats, you'll get battered every time someone walks past.
If they were shorter, but slightly wider cars, then a few extra centimetres would make them far more comfortable. I think the Midland Mainline is getting the shorter length cars, so will be very interesting to see how they turn out.

Wow! This is a wonderful high-speed train! -- It's clean, toilets with voice prompts! It goes fast: 630 km in 4. 5 hours! Excellent comfort level at good speed! Especially pleased with the early arrival in Newcastle already 10 minutes earlier! It's a pity we will have such an excellent railway service. ---

Every ticket I looked for over the next 3 months was twice the price of LNER. Flying was still cheaper.
Still all forms were way more than a tank of petrol and I have to drive 1/4 of the distance still to get to the stations / airports.
Then wonder why we can't pull people away from there cars?

really hard uncomfortable seats. tiny arm rests. passengers playing loud music on their devices. constant conversations on speaker phone. reservations system down.
one plus is the fare.
but that is not enough to make me sit for 2hrs 50mins on a rock hard seat ever again.
never again.

this service is about equivalent in terms of distance, travel time and significance as the route Frankfurt-Berlin, however Deutsche Bahn charges you over a 100- for it for the Sprinter service (4hrs) and about 50- for the normal sevice (4, 5hrs. I wish I could get to Berlin for that sort of price range.

Enjoyed the video. With the low cost fare I wonder how long they can maintain that price as I'm sure this will prove to be a very popular route. With the chancellor announcing reduced air fares within the UK this will put pressure on the railways.

Man, this brought back memories! I was sent over by my employer to consult with the EWS back around 2000, and we took the train from King-s Cross up to Doncaster. Mind you things look very different, but happy memories!

At last a company who charges simple rail fares! Will they only sell with no standing? Still I will still fly to London from Dundee to London city as it is much faster and convenient but at a cost and in one day!

Looks like a great service, not something I'd want to use but it fills an important marker.
Also even better is to see the train spotters, foamers, gricers, are still alive in well in the UK.

the scenery is stunning, and the fare is certainly acceptable; I would definitely take the train rather than an airplane, if I ever make it back to the UK (only 1 previous visit, in 1977.

Thank you so much for the video Thibault. It reminded me how beautiful that trip to Edinburgh is, right by the sea! I must do it again soon and Lumo looks like a good way to do it!

Wow! England not only has a bullet train (LNER) but now a _low-cost_ bullet train (Lumo! This is great to see, and I wish that we could get these trains here in Canada for VIA Rail.

Nice report-. Such a shame we don't have Lumo on the West Coast mainline - because Avanti West Coast are now screwing the public on their services London-Manchester-Glasgow

The trains only stops at Stevenage, Newcastle, and Morpeth. It misses out the major connection hubs of Doncaster, Wakefield, Leeds and York.

On an inaugural trip and at such a low price, I'm surprised that they didn't fill every seat. You had good weather for such a scenic ride.

It does look low cost. packed seating, no 1st class option and no cafe car. That makes it look and fee flow cost.

With a population of nearly 800, 000 why does this train not stop at Leeds. Shame on you lumo. Still a really nice train!
