Royal Scot- steam locomotive number 46100 and Storm -Brian- visited Bognor Regis simultaneously on Saturday 21st October. I found some great vantage points to witness both the high winds and the magnificent sight of a Royal Scot steam locomotive gracing the metals of the Southern Region as it steamed to its destination, the seaside town of Bognor Regis. After the train-s passengers had spent an hour or two savouring the bracing sea air, I filmed the Belle on its return trip at Littlehampton, where once again the passengers were treated to another extended break in a windswept seaside town before re-joining the train for its return to London via the Arun valley line. The last shots were taken as the train raced passed Arundel with its landmark castle and darkening skies creating a Harry Potter like backdrop for the green locomotive with its rake of maroon carriages. This locomotive was one of a number rescued by Butlin's for static display at their holiday camps. Bryan sent this link, if you'd like to know more about the other engines

Now we are bang up to date with Storm Brian. I haven't even got around to reading the English press reports of Storm Brian. At least it is not Bryan with a Y The last time that I saw Royal Scot was in Butlins Holiday Camp in Skegness. It was painted in LMS red, which at the time looked ridiculous, seeing as never appeared in red with a taper boiler (to the best of my knowledge) It was in the year that England won the world cup, 1966 when I was working there in the school holidays.

Again great clarity in vision. Because of the high winds I read you were using a separate mic and an anti wind noise sock. so even with that arrangement there is still some wind noise. It seems we cant win and get over that problem!

Not such a usual exotic location for you re rail trips Tim? There never was a real Bognor Belle, there was a Bournemouth Belle in steam days which I traveled on once or twice! I like your cheerful little credits tune though. J P.

Hi Tim. Indeed the Brighton Belle was certainly a special train, the midnight out of Victoria was full of - Luvies-? I still have some Pullman Belle supplement tickets, ten shillings extra to ride The Belle! J P

At 4: 02 what is the third rail I can see. Are some parts of the system dual gauge or is it electrified?
