Each container, each piggyback, each tanker, each hopper, and each boxcar is one less truck on our highways That's the thing I love about freight trains. However, the railroads and law enforcement agencies need to do something to tackle the problem with graffiti artists orating the freight cars. It seems to be the latest trend in graffiti vandalism. More than anything, it's very unsightly. But it. 's also conducive to gang activity and violence. I bet lots of the guys who do this grew up listening to gangster rap. It's people of all races. We've now turned out three generations that grew up with the so called gangster rap.

When I was a kid working on my granddad & grandmothers farm, there was a freight train that went very near their property line. When I would hear that train horn, and whatever farm equipment I was operating, I would always take-off and go to see the train pass by. My grand parents knew it. They did not seem to care because they knew I loved trains. I had a Lionel electric 25 car freight train set and I played with it constantly. I an 72 years in age and I still have that train set.

I live just 20 minutes south of Golden BC, one of CP's biggest yards, so I know for a fact this video is strange. Those big SD 70s and SD 90s or whatever they are don't pull mixed consists, they only pull those big aluminium coal hoppers. It's GP 38s and GP 40s and SD 40s that pull mixed consists. It's called using the right tool for the job.

Diesel < ElectricYou need like 3-5 units to pull a long heavy freight with a diesel locomotive while the Swiss just use 2 electric locomotives with each producing over 10, 000+ HP. Diesel is very inefficient. Should have electrified all the railway from the beginning.

Love the feeling of a EMD or GE six axle roll by in notch 8 when standing close. The ground trembles. Your chest shakes. All that adhesive weight and tractive effort lifting 10, 000 tons of train or more. Like dragging a small cruise ship across the land.

Thank you for making this video. My two year old son is completely mad about trains and will watch this video all the way through an inch away from the screen.
