welcome to this trip report bound to Sochaczew in Poland with PKP INTERCITY - TRIP INFORMATION - Railway company: PKP Intercity Train type: EP07 + Coaches From: Warszawa Centralna to Sochaczew Duration: 38min Price: 5, 48
Date: 2024-01-09

Comments and reviews: 35

1: 38 You can move from this railway station (Warszawa Centralna) to the suburban zone using underpasses only, but if you want to use the subway you should go there by tram, bus or on your foot, but remember that there's no underground connection between railway station and subway so you must go outside for a moment. Construction plans (for the underground connection between subway and railway stations) were available over 50 years ago, but something went wrong and Warsaw still hasn't got that, but it would be probably built in next 2/4 years during the big Warsaw railway renovation.

Ok so for polish railroad enthusiasts people: The First class coach downgraded to second class is a Z1 type coach. I thought all of these first class car types were taken out of service for different reasons, rusting or awaiting refurbishment? in Warsaw. But I see this video from 2019 and I see it is not true. Are those cars still widely in service or was this a lonely surviving car or a supplement brought to this train?
reply

First class was not that used so there is oversupply of 1st class stock in running condition and no point in reaping 2nd class stock. Please ride in overcrouded TLK (Tanie linie kolejowe - cheap railway lines) this is IC brand. You will hop on late 70-ties, mid 80-ties stock only slightly refurbished and repainted with standing place because it was sooo overcrowded.

The occasionally rude staff is a typical remnant of old communist time era and applies to all Eastern European countries. I remeber how it was back then 10 years ago- most conductors were quite rude and didn-t speak any English nowadays it is more like up to 30% or even less, cso I can see the genuine progress in Poland as a Pole myslef.
reply

Not surprised the train guard wasn-t friendly. I love Poland, it-s a great country and the trains are good too but the people who work in customer facing jobs (just some not all, but more then other countries) can be a bit off. Same with hungary too. Both great countries don-t get me wrong.

Great video. I find it puzzling why Poles are not proud of their trains. They are inexpensive, clean and comfortable, and they could give many rail companies outside the country a run for their money. I am surprised that PKP Intercity is not having a go at some of the franchises elsewhere.

Warszawa Centralna is awesome. I never used it to go anywhere by train since I come to city by plane and bus from chopin, but I always use it to cut crossing streets and dodge bad weather upstairs lol. walk from one end of a platform to another and you crossed half of the central town XD

Here, in Poland, we downgrade our 1st class cars very often. That's simply because we've too many of it and people here really prefer to travel as cheap as possible. So you see - your train had only 1 1st class which still had a few empty seats and about 8 crowded 2nd ones.

reply

1st-class cars running as 2nd class are quite common. Simply put, they don't have enough 2nd-class cars, so sometimes they replace them with 1st-class cars with a sticker like you can see here. These are usually older 1st-class cars, but here you got a modern one.

The trains with the old manual opening doors offered more culture. I can understand the automatic button, as there were times the manual opener was difficult, especially for elderly.
I still say go back to manual door opening, lol. Much more class.

6: 11 I don't think a train conductor could said anything what could be unkind. She could only be slightly annoyed by the fact that you are not using the service you paid for and allowing some -illegal sitting-. LOL
reply

Wow! Despite the train was crowded you made a really nice video mate! By the way, am I the only one who thought that the thumbnail was a screenshot from a train simulator? -
Nice vid!
Greetings from Spain!

reply

A pity that this train had no restaurant car, so you couldn't have tried it. Hope you did on other rides in Poland, as the Polish WARS restaurant cars are literally the best in Europe and probably wider.
reply

It's nice that you visited Poland. Our trains are changing, they are becoming more comfortable and more and more people travel on trains, We like Czech trains, and we often visit Czech Republic
reply

Real trains are in czech republic too! But still nice vid i sometimes need to go to neighbour (poland) sometimes: D And greetings from Brno, Czech Republic
reply

These are the cheapest wagons in Railway in Poland and It is good I wasn't in Poland for over 5 years it has progressed much better with the trains/railway
reply

y' know here in poland (almost) every platform has 2 tracks. Example: In poland Warsaw West has 8 platforms, but in other countries it would have 16 platforms.
reply

The train conductor couldn't care less why you're not at your sit unless you complain. And this is good. Don't look for problems. Look for solutions.
reply

I've not been to Poland before I'm going there next year in the summer cant wait to see how good there trains then to the UK. Good video really enjoyed it
reply

Ive never been on the new coaches and i prefer the 2 class coaches with the compartments
Edit: Once i had to stand on the train for 1 hr straight

Took train Warsaw to Krakow, then Krakow to Rzseszow (spell) in 2008 in pursuit of ancestral research. Ran on time! Then Pszemysl to Warsaw.
reply

6: 45 I have done a little bit of research, and this train always has two first class carriages which run as second class. I do not know why!
reply

The polish trains is very clean safe and enjoyable ride plus they have a dinner car and sleeping car for the long trips. Polish crew are very friendly.
reply

Nice video it's a shame you couldn't do a full review because the train was very busy Warsaw central looks very futuristic like before its time
reply

I used to think Poland was more of a third-world Eastern Europrean country. Boy, was I wrong. Both the station and this IC blew me away. -
reply

I am sorry, but the title is making the viewers into -question-, PKP Intercity ISN'T main carrier. PKP Cargo is, depends on which way.
reply

the downgrade was because this is an old refurbished coach with no air condition. I prefer them most, one is able to open the window.
reply

sounds awesome you enjoyed our trains since many people complain about them, but we still don-t have a lot of fast railways
reply

Downgrade was because that 1class was too old to be still 1class but it is still in use as second
reply

What does it mean to downgrade a 1st class railcar to a 2nd class? (What's the visible difference)
reply

Already seeing the magnificent Warsaw modern station. WHAT A CONTRAST TO THE DREARY American rail situation!
reply

Nice video! I like very much to watch your videos about railways. Greeting from Moscow, RUS!
