This weekend, the historic Santa Fe Depot in downtown San Diego celebrates its 100th anniversary (March 8th. The station has served many trains over the years of the Santa Fe, San Diego and Arizona, San Diego Electric Railway, Amtrak, Coaster, and the San Diego Trolley. Let's take a look at some of the trains arriving and departing the depot over the last few years

I enjoy the train videos of Southern California I'd the Coaster, Metrolink Commuter trains and Amtrak California Pacific Surfliners. I used to tell a former coworker who used to work for the old Southern Pacific railroad that the Pacific Surfliner trains were my trains & that the Capital zcorridor trains the run from San Jose to Auburn, CA were his trains. I travel long distance by Amtrak trains when I travel. Train travel is my number 1 choice of travel.

The Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal(Union Station) & the San Diego Santa Fe Amtrak Depot in Downtown San Diego are the 2 most beautiful passenger train stations that I have been in and have seen. The Amtrak stations on the entire Pacific Surfliner route are for that matter the most beautiful train stations in the early California/Spanish style & design.

What a relaxing trip! I just love it! -- I have caught the Surfliner, many times from Los Angeles, to San Diego! From San Diego, to Santa Barbara! The Ocean views are spectacular and memorable! Thanks for posting! ---

Good video. I lived in the San Diego area 1963-64. I rode Santa Fe trains out of the Santa Fe station. I hardly recognize San Diego these days. At least they kept the old station. Bravo to that!

I have an old Post card showing the -full station before they cut it in half- from the two towers forward toward camera up to trolley lines. Don't know why they cut it off like that? - 1: 44

Weird seeing a PCC car with a pantograph. Kinda like the ones on Pittsburgh from just after they finished the light rail line.
