Obesity in children, is it healthy?

Obesity in children, is it healthy? Smushface: While some of your points are good, you seem completely unaware that a large majority of low income people (which is arguably 20-50% of the US) dont have access to fresh vegetables and fresh fruits. Its called a food desert and it basically means that fresh fruits and vegetables are either not available or astronomically priced. Many of these families dont have transportation and are limited to places they can walk to for food; often this is a bodega or convenience store that carries either no produce or extremely low quality produce at an extremely high price. These people often dont have access to a real grocery store, let alone a farmers market, and the budget grocery stores that actually do serve these communities often slash prices on hyper-refined processed foods while jacking up prices on fresh ones. Your rant here shows a tremendously disappointing lack of understanding and research on this topic and how food availability (or lack thereof) influences cultural dietary choices. I recommend doing some research and then maybe changing the topic to the large number of people without access to fresh foods and ways to change that.

At the beginning of the video and the man was showing the kids the vegetables I feel like most younger children don't recognize a lot of foods, my little brother is 10 and can't recognize celery, avocado, kiwi, eggplant, and things like that. I also don't think children should be taken away from their parents if the parents are loving. My parents are divorced and my father is really poor so we eat a lot of fast food when we are with him but he loves us very much and gives all of his money so my mother can take care of my and my brothers. When I'm with my father we stay in hotels because he lives far away and it harder to go grocery shopping if you are staying in hotels, and I think Freelee doesn't understand that sometimes people just are unable to afford all fruits and vegetables. My mother tries to feed us healthy but just today we couldn't even get a small carton of blueberries because it cost too much, my point is that where I live healthy things are more expensive and families can't afford it.

What FreeLee is not realizing is that it could be bad for a child to be put on a vegan diet. This is because since children are still growing, they need certain vitamins and proteins that they get from meat, dairy, etc. Children could be on a vegan lifestyle if they took supplements but a lot of people wouldn't know that they have to give their children these, as FreeLee clearly dent know either. Also, having a vegan lifestyle can be pretty expensive. Trying to eat healthy is a challenge for some families because of money issues. So please don't go saying that the vegan lifestyle is the cheapest when you haven't even done proper research.

I'm 220lbs, and a Doctor has classified me as 'Obese'. But I can assure I'm not obese in the way one would assume me to be. I work a very physical job, play hockey, walk twice a day, over half my diet is veggies. so why are we using the word obese without understanding it. According to the doctor I should be about 180 lbs. I wasn't even that light in the best shape of my life running 400m sprints in Highschool.

I'm a 14 year old girl and I'm obese but I don't blame my parents for my eating habits, you can blame yourself and only yourself because no one forced me to eat the way I eat but I will try to eat healthier and lose some weight.

I ate some of my vegan Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream, literally tastes like a regular ice cream. How much saturated fat am I actually allowed? NHS Recommends less than 20 but I feel like that's a huge amount.

They dont know what vegetables are thats so sad. When I was younger we ate a lot of frozen food because its just my mom and my 3 siblings and I but she always made sure we had veggies and fruit too.

so we're saying that obese kids don't have a future? right? they're gonna suffer through diseases that we didn't go through. by the time they get to the next few. THEY'RE ALREADY DEAD
reply

Well a lot of people get fat. Fatness is something that a lot of people cant control. And these days most kids are sitting inside stuffing their face with food, while on their phones.
