Thank you so much, Jake for sharing that information and knowledge. I never would have guessed that you had been a stutterer. And yes, Joe Biden grew up as a stutterer in his youth. I was a speech therapist and teacher of the deaf for 43 years. I have had a few stutterers in my experience but feel bad that I never really knew how to help them. It is the most difficult speech impediment to overcome, and sadly my college experience did not teach me anything. I have always heard that singing is a method of therapy because most stutterers are able to sing clearly. Amazingly, I have had deaf students who stuttered in sign language. Their fingers would just wiggle back and forth until they were ready to speak/sign.

Nice video, Jake. My mother had stuttering for years, and we helped her to overcome it. Thanks for sharing your experience. I think that you’re strong, healthy, and wise. You have achieved great things; you and Nicole have built a paradise! Instead of thinking if something happens to you, why not to think as the years passes by, I would like to leave a message to my children to help them grow strong, health, and wise as their parents. You’re doing great.

You never beat, overcome, etc Adult Developmental Stuttering. At best, you can learn to control the symptoms to the point where your speech is fluent enough to make the condition imperceivable for a laymen listener. However, the underlying blocks will remain with you until the day you die, and the visible symptoms may returns as your physical and/or mental health deteriorates or you're impaired in some other way (e. g.: drunk.

Yes my son has autism and drawing out the sounds while visual showing of the form of mouth and tongue have been extremely beneficial. At times in his sleep he speaks perfectly like before his regression. It’s like a mini ohm that synchronizes the energies or connections that frees the speech. Distractions of the logical processes to allow the creative processes through is key. I find this very inspiring.

I would kneel down to my sons eye level. tell him slow down im listening. Im not going anywhere. i said it in a gentle way withy hand on his shoulder. we all stopped what we were doing when he wanted to tell us something. He out grew it. Now hes 40, if he gets excited about something, it slips a bit. but very slight.

My late father-in-law stuttered while a young man in school. He had a teacher who told him to read and recite poetry. Worked like a charm! Plus, he memorized all of the poetry, and could recite a poems throughout his life!

I was always amazed at the country singer - Mel Tillis. He had a stutter but when he sang it was so beautiful! He talked about his struggles as a boy growing up and how he dealt with by singing. He was a good man and singer!

Joe Biden has had a shudder all his life, was able to control it better when he was younger, but as he has gotten older yes you hear it much more and more pronounced when he is mad.

What an amazing story. I’ve never noticed your stutter in any of your videos. You do well at speaking on film. Thanks for sharing.
