Next time you run into that situation, wrap a good logging chain around the tree above where you plan to cut. Make your wedge cut steeper on the bottom side and plunge cut from about 1. 5 to 2 inches from your wedge cut as straight as possible toward the outside of the tree. this will create a lock to hold the tree in place while you cut out and not pinch your saw's bar. Once you cut through from the outside of the lock the tree will start to fall and the steeper wedge cut at the bottom will keep it from stump jumping, and the chain will aid in keeping it from barber chairing all while giving you time to Get out of dodge!

Love your videos, but Jake please learn to fell trees safely. Back cut higher than the notch ensures the butt won't leap off backwards. With leaning trees, small face cut, then learn how to bore thru safely (not easy, you need to understand fully how, form your hinge, cut back, leave a trigger, then release the trigger. Otherwise you are asking for a -Barber Chair- which is very likely to kill you.
Nicole, do you have any slver birch near you? The bark is the most fantastic firelighter, even wet.
Take care.

I've been looking at off grid living for about 3 years and i was trying to decide between a traveling homestead like a tinyhouse, a bus conversion, or van conversion and a permanent homestead like a yurt or a small cabin. However your videos have convinced me that i really like the yurt more. I've been binge watching your videos and watched your timelapse video if the build and. Im honestly so inspired.

Question is how do you afford to live the dream that people dream of?
Obviously you don-t work normal jobs!
Oftentimes when this occurs your making videos an live the dream off people watching the videos!
I didn-t like video nor am I going to send money for a video when theres nothing in return but another video!

I just had a thought in my mind, since you live on this island, is the danger of rising ocean water level a threat to the island? How high is the elevation. I'm sorry this is on an old video but I've been binge watching the playlist for a couple days. I don't wanna spoil myself by commenting on a newer video.

Jake--next time you make it to town you really need to pick up some 4-5 inch--1/4 or 3/8 inch lag screws and put at least one ( two would be better ) in each end of those 2x6 frame members for strength --as those logs dry out the screws will start wiggling as you use the decks

Comment 400: Enjoying your project from afar. We are universal in the need for carriage or lag bolts to fasten your framing. Make Matt some pizza on the stove top griddle or in a cast iron skillet. Put a lid or foil over it to melt things and cook the top. Peace.

So much speculation about few three's. and why is you wifey prostituting her into the thumbnails. clicks obviously. it's nipples or ass everytime. it makes sense because the content is not that interesting

I missed this video but now understand fully your 4 petals area. I think it's a brilliant idea and can't wait to see each completed. It will be interesting to see how you heat the washroom and the mudroom.
