This weeks Op-Doc is Colin Levys charming illustrated remembrance, My Grandfathers Memory Book. Levys film not only creates a sweet portrait of his prolific grandfather, but inspires us all to follow his example of using creativity as a way to remember and understand our own lives. Dont miss the extra illustrations in the text of the directors statement!

My grandfather also an artist/engineer guy, he likes to build a radio, clock, speaker, and that sort of things by himself and mix it with some art he had in mind. For examples, he builds a electrical circuit for a radio, but he arrange so the circuit looks like a horse wagon. There's so many things he built back then. Sadly he got dementia and start to forget everything (but not his art/ works tho, then He died because of lung complications. miss you mbah (gramps.

You should have these published! I realize that that many books is probably unrealistic, but at least the more unique ideas and world events, for sure. Especially since it's (Presumptuously assuming) Well written, and illustrated history, not boring text book stuff! If you don't feel right profiting from his work, consider donating the profits to a charity in his honor. Thank you so much for sharing this!

This was so beautiful and inspiring! I've never met any of my grandpas, neither one of my grandmas. I just had the children years with my mom's mom until 2007, when she passed away and I really miss the grandparent-grandson relation. This memory book is really a gift. I loved this movie.

What a great gramp! This is worth millions. You should have this book printed I have an old scrap- book in wich my grandma collected newspaper clips from WWII. I also have my grandpa's dresser. Both these are worth millions to me. Own them like if they were rare diamonds.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us, I never had an opportunity to see either of my grand fathers but I would like to imagine them being people who observed things around them and captured these moments in some way.

I love this video, thanks so much for posting. It's funny that out of the thousands of videos I've watched on YouTube, this has been one I keep wanting to come back to and watch again.
