I don't watch Tennis period - I'm just not into the sport is all. However from watching the clip and only knowing Serena Williams by name and not personally as an athlete, from my perspective she was throwing a tantrum. She got caught being coached and decided to bully the referee and attempt to make him back down. She acted entitled and bratty. Yes, she is a world renown tennis stars with many wins, but she acted like a complete child who didn't get her way. And to bring her child into the argument just makes her look petty. I personally don't think the comic was about race. IT'S A CARTOON - a fictional rendition of the players and by no means meant to be a life-like portrait. Again, people are showing why they need to feel personally attacked for no reason and perpetuate the snowflake mentality. Just my two cents.

I think that the Serena Williams story is very simple. Serena got the equivalent of a speeding ticket in tennis. Now despite the fact that plenty of people speed, only a small fraction actually get caught. Instead of saying ok, accepting it and moving on. Her response was there are so many men that go so much faster but don't get tickets. She then continues to argue with the cop for over 15 minutes for which the cop increases the penalty. Now all of a sudden we have a women's rights issue on our hands. Carlos Ramos has given plenty of code violations and point penalties throughout the same tournament. Once a violation is given it cannot be taken back. No amount of wining or crying will change that, and Serena knew that. Yet she kept pushing it. As a tennis fan it's disappointing.

Why do you Williams supporters always dismiss the 2 previous penalty points, and claim she lost the match for simply calling the umpire a 'thief'? She screamed and shouted at him for a good 10 minutes before then. Plus, she didn't lose the match due to calling him a 'thief' she lost the match because she had 2 penalty points before from first lying about getting coaching, then after failing to deliver a serve to the opposition she smashed her racket on the floor, and then proceeded to insult the umpire saying he was never going to be an umpire again. Let's ignore that. If she simply had called him a thief and for 10 minutes shouted at him, like she did, she would only have got a penalty point and would have proceeded to lose against the better player regardless.

Serena felt personally attacked when the umpire gave her a warning for coaching. She felt like the umpire was calling her a cheater. Let's remember that from her point of view, she couldn't see her coach's hand motions. All she saw was his thumbs. She thought she was getting a thumbs up as a sign of encouragement but the replay showed obvious hand signals/motions. I think the umpire should have clearly explained what he saw from Serena's coach to Serena. If she knew during the match that her coach did in fact make a motion instead of just a thumbs up, then I believe she would've agreed with the warning and the resulting tantrum would not have occured. I do think she deserved the game penalty. You can't yell at an individual like that, no matter who you are.

As for Serena's comment that she was ragged on for comments towards the ref that would have been swept aside if it were a male tennis player she is PARTIALLY correct. Male tennis players have sworn at refs and not been fined or penalized as a result. In my past, I have supported Serena because in her history she has been unfairly targeted in cases of drug testing. That being said, I still cannot support Serena's reaction and the resulting backlash towards Osaka. I didn't see the game but from what I gathered, Serena was getting bodied and it seemed her reaction was partially based on that. I wish she had done a post-game discussion instead of a meltdown on the court, resulting in a disastrous awards ceremony for Osaka. Very disappointed in Serena.

The problem with the serena situation is that there are idiots that don't understand how the code violation system works your first is a warning seconds is a point penalty third is a game and the fourth is disqualification although harsh Carlos Ramos enforced the rules correctly and has done the same countless times. Not only that serena is known for being abusive to officials threatening to kill a lines woman for calling a foot fault. In addition it was disgusting what she did to Osaka ever more so the crowd. But honestly if you are going to comment on the subject do a full amount of research instead of a basing facts of Twitter

As an Australian I can say Knight wasn't racist here's my reasoning. Knight is known Australia wide for mocking Australian figures and politicians he ALWAYS I mean ALWAYS exaggerates features no matter race or creed to get across certain points. There are plenty of examples of him depicting white male politicians with big mouths and large pointy bird like noses, I think in this case it was because of WHO he chose to draw and how covered the incident was that it got negative reactions a lot of Australian's backed knight on it because they have context too his art style and how he tries to convey points.

To say the cartoon is races you need to disregard art, how cools work with other coolers, and the time crunch the cartoonist is on. Certain features have to be added and or enhanced to make the characters to pop. This is especially true four characters in the background if they need to be noticed. The cartoonist doesn't have all the words in the world to work with. He might have only a couple lines of dialogue to express the thought of one of the characters. But everything else has to be artistically molded to express the rest of the story / message. I don't find it racist

The thing about hurricane evacuation is that its not always possible. For one thing, most jobs dont give you time off for hurricanes, and a lot of stores need to stay open for supplies. I know last year when Irma hit I was not given any time off leading up to the storm, and by the time the weekend came there was no gas anywhere, and not hotels available in Florida, Georgia, or Alabama. Plus I have two large dogs, finding any hotel that allows them on a normal day is hard. Its easy to say you should leave, but its harder to tell people where to go.
