Cancel Culture Hits New Level Of Stupid, Jacksfilms VS Fortnite, Reparations, & India's Water Crisis Ian B: What if I told you, as someone who appears completely white, that my ancestor was a slave? Do I still deserve reparations even if I appear to be a white person? Or is it only people who look like they had ancestors that were slaves? What about African Americans who emigrated here after slavery? Are they deemed to not be effected by the history of slavery because they came here after? Or would you argue that since they have a certain skin color that they would automatically fall under that umbrella since the effects of slavery are argued to have a lasting effect on American society? This bill is way too vague to have support of any kind. I honestly doubt a successful black person with an ancestor that was a slave wants a handout for something that had nothing to do with him. That would be interpreted as pity, or seeing them as less than, whereas African Americans have contributed so much to American culture and society to be treated as less than's. Use American money to benefit Americans, not one slice of the incredibly diverse American pie. With everything wrong in America right now this is not something we would look back on and say Yea, this bill made America a better place for everyone. People who want handouts will never be satisfied. The introduction of this bill is proof of that, a hundred years after.

i have held the belief that (and i might get some hate for this) the biggest threat to the black people is the black culture, where they constanly hear from other black people that the white man is holding them back (might be phrased diffrently each time, heaing this over and over from multiple diffrent people from a young age will either make them give up and think whats the point of even trying or they will use it as motivation to stick it to the man. sadly i think the first mentioned is the most common. i am by no means denying that there is in fact still some prejudice against black people. the fact that black on black crime is so high relative to their small population in the US is a big concern and then there are also the increasing amount of single back mothers, you simply cannot blame that on racism. paying reperation for something that heppened several generations ago that no one alive has actually been part of is not a good solution. especially if you cannot solve the other issues first. maybe a few families could make a big turn around with those resources. but in large it wouldnt have a big long term impact.

Reperations: First off this is a committee to STUDY the effects of slavery for the need of reparations. This would provide more information on a multi-generational, complex issue. Maybe they find that reparations are not necessary. Also everyone assumes this is going to be a check of some sort when it may be resources pumped into a community. You can not deny the generational ripple that slavery has had in the US period, we as a country have been bleeding from this wound for 150 years hoping that it would work itself out. What was done to black people here was very intentional so the apology that sin needs to be intentional. Per the Mitch McConnell comment yes there was a civil war because half the country still wanted slaves, it's a mystery why black people are not too fond of the confederate flag. Listen think of reparations like Global Warming, a wrong we need to right for the betterment of our country and world.

Reparations my ass, no one alive is responsible for the shit that happened 150 years ago. If people want equality, then the first step is stop labling people, as black, white, asian, hispanic, male, female, etc. We are all HUMANS, the color of someone's skin is no different than the color of one's hair or eyes. You want to fix the employment system. Remove those labels, remove ones name. Assian everyone an employment number and when a employer reviews a resume, let them look at ones experience, ones education and accomplishments. Let that judge whether someone is better fit for the job. As someone who has lost a potiential job over the so called equality act and had someone hired in at the position I was applying for who had ZERO experience and little to no education in the matter. This shit infuriates me. There will NEVER be equality in the world as long as people keep labeling each other.

You and I don't need another handout, reparations will be insulting to the payer and the person/people being paid. Because we were never slaves nor slave owners. The closest thing to a slave today is a person who is on government funding (welfare and others like that) and as a result subject/a slave to the government. Look at history, in general black people were better off in terms of employment and having fathers in their house hold back when less handouts were given out to anyone. The paid/in-debted person is always a slave to the payer/loaner, this would just divide the country more and make those local economies worse not better. Basically throwing money at a problem isn't going to fix it, it will just expose who doesn't know how to manage money properly and expose the greedy people who plan to utilize this to some how make a fortune in a malicious way.

Well republicans did fight and succeed in freeing slaves and passing civil rights acts I agree with the former NFL player Burgess who was on the panel that said he is against reparations but restitution paid by the Democratic Party who was solely responsible for the crimes against his race the kkk Jim Crow laws murdering over 20 million black babies thus far and once blacks learn the true history if they decide to continue allegiance to the democrats they are complicit and should have to pay and any white person who is ashamed to be white because of some false belief of privilege they should have to pony up to If anyone should have to pay for sins of slavery its the party that psychically and now mentally enslaved blacks and other minorities They already steal way too much of my hard earned money to pay for something my personal ancestors fought to stop

I agree wholeheartedly, reparations must be made. The impoverished African countries that sold slaves over to North America must give be taxed for what they have done, as well as the EU for causing the slave trade. On a serious note though, if we as a nation are all responsible for creating sacrifices and taking care of our people and making sure justice is served, how is creating a program just to historically prove what people deserve to be taken away from them or given to them based on losses and gains of their ancestors more responsible than actually trying to improve and reform things that plague the black community like healthcare, the justice system, education, employment, etc? This completely seems like it is only serves to increase a sense of superficial entitlement, rather than creating solutions that Americans can actually be proud of.

There are so many unanswered questions with this bill. What are the reparations they seek from the committee, who is on it, who gets said reparations if they are founded, who foots the bill, how do you prove legitimacy, etc. Why dont we just spend time actually helping better the African American power and systematic inequality issue? Better education, more available resources, better job opportunities, community safety, etc. if reparations were decided upon at the time to give freed slaves a start in life and a place to plant their feet for growth, shouldnt that be the main focus now? Finding a way to topple the inequality African Americans face and their power struggle within our white, American system. Giving a helping hand so the community can thrive on its own and grow with the rest of American citizens.

I'm conflicted on the Fortnite dance issue. I just don't know where to draw the line on what constitutes intellectual property that necessitates financial compensation for 3rd party usage insofar as a dance is considered. On the one hand, I am of the belief that art, unless explicitly stated otherwise by the creator, should always be financially compensated. although often MUCH less than what many creators ask for. This would obviously extend to any 3rd parties who make use of it. However, on the other hand, I don't really know if a dance would constitute as artwork that required valuable time and investment to make. In SOME circumstances it CERTAINLY would, but in many, I don't feel the same. However, as a courtesy at the very LEAST, I believe it is proper to credit the original dancers.

The biggest problem with reparations, is who should owe who. Should the mostly black Muslims be forced to pay for the start of the slave trade? What about the Native Americans who owned slaves similar to other Southerners at the time, who didn't lose them until 1866? Or what about the blacks who owned blacks? Should it be England and other European countries that transported the slaves? What about the countries where most slaves from Africa went, in the Middle East? What about places where slavery is still being practiced to this day? Should Germany pay for the 30-40 million civilians they killed in WW2? Turkey for the Armenian Genocide? I could understand giving victims something. But the ones you are talking about were most likely dead over 100 years ago. How far back should we look?
