Libya Facing HUGE Crisis Following Civil War And Renegade General Haftars Takeover Attempt Ma Elfandi: I am a Libyan citizen how lives in Tripoli, Janzour. I would like to thank you so much for bringing light into this issue as for right now Libya is going threw a very rough time the Libyan citizens are calling it the end of Libya. Kids are hearing missiles like it's the ice cream truck right when they hear a sound of a missile they go outside and look at it smiling of joy cause they got used to all the missiles and they find it amusing. Until know the war hasn't calmed down at all each day Halftar's troops are getting closer to Tripoli but, still every time they get on the doors of Tripoli they get pushed off by the militia forces. However there is a lot of support for haftar from the Libyan citizens as haftar has pushed away a lot of ISIS groups out of the country and people had enough of these militia's running around like they own the place. Most of the citizens though don't want Haftar neither do they want the militia's all they want is a peaceful country. One last thing I personally was bugged out you didn't talk about was how this war effected normal civilians. Libya has a problem with over trafficking you might wonder why as we are only 6 million. yeah we are 6 million but most of the Libyans are all in one place Tripoli which cause's a lot of traffic in the roads and Libyans are inpatient especially now more than ever cause of the holly month of Ramadan everyone is fasting so everyone is at the edge so when a little kid who is 12 year's old goes and shoots a middle aged man cause he caught him off that's the real consequences of war this kid thinks he can kill everyone cause there is no one to stop him this happens everyday since the beginning of Ramadan someone died in the street trying to buy his family the milk the desired then a scumbag goes and shoots him and let's not forget that all the thefts are coming out cause they know no one can stop them as everyone is busy with this war.

There is something you did not mention. And Hua that after the revolution and the control of Ansar al-Sharia on Benghazi. The reason for the intervention of Hifter Hua. Many of Gaddafi's retired officers and their sons were assassinated by Ansar al-Sharia and bombings of the headquarters was no longer serving Gaddafi. But were destroyed. They said that it is now a free country, but anyone who speaks that he lacks Gaddafi's rule or that he supports the way Gaddafi is assassinated directly. This has been repeated and assassinations reached hundreds of people in positions and officers. They wanted to kill anything related to Gaddafi. This is something I think is a good reason for the intervention of Hifter to prevent these assassinations. And Hifter prevent these assassinations Lat and violations very successfully. After he took control of Benghazi. began to appear ISIS. They were besieged by the army of Hifter and exiled from all cities of the eastern part. And peace now in these cities. And now his plan Hua he controls the western part Fully. to end this war. I think that without the intervention of Hifter to eliminate terrorist groups that claim Islam. Save it from becoming like Syria. Now 90% of Libya under the control of Hifter. If the army controls Tripoli and Libya under the leadership of one It is excellent. The most important thing is that this bloodshed ends as soon as possible.

I disagree with those who want to paint the entire thing in a negative light. The ousting of Gadhafi was probably going to happen either way, the US leading the way to an international force doing that probably saved many civilians that would have had to lose their lives fighting against military forces. The mistake was leaving without properly solidifying a government. If UN forces were going to take out a dictator they should have followed through and protected the civilians from militants so that they could (as a collective) decide what they wantEither way, it's in the past. Moving on, I'm wondering Haftar's goals are, the fact that he is secular and spent time in the US made me think he might be on our side but his use of military on civilian targets and his comments on war crimes are terrible. Is Trump's advocacy of him just recognizing him as the likely victor and trying to persuade him not to be a dictator, or justifying his tactics and military rule?

This has happened in every conflict that uk/us has been involved in, in recent years. Iraq, Syria, Libya and Afghanistan. twice Never in all these conflicts have we thought of the day after. This has caused most of these countries to be destabilised and extremist regimes have overtaken autocratic ones. If we are going to get involved in other countries affairs we must see it through to the end rather than half assing it, without jeopardising the country's sovereignty. Educate voters on the power of the vote, protect polling stations from militia or local parties pressuring voters, guard vote boxes and offer transport of said boxes to safe locations. Ensuring that it is a fair election without overstepping your authority is the best way of saying the to locals you are there to help. Thats just my opinion so do with it what you will.

I am a Libyan due to my parents and I can give you the mindset of many Libyans, Libyans are scared some Libyans due to the constant bloodshed, daily power outages, crippling price hikes and rapid inflation would want anything for their suffering to end so many just support Haftar due to him being the strongest figure, I think what should happen is instead of Donald Trump trying to do the opposite of what Obama is trying to do and instead fight Haftar due to his obvious intentions in becoming Libyas next Dictator and he obviously has the mindset of a tyrant due to many other videos being passed around by fellow Libyans many can be found on Facebook due to that being a popular social media app used by Muslims.

Like every other country the US invades it's about one thing only and that's oil. They turned one of the most successful African countries, months away from unifying north Africa into a failed state in a matter of months, then pat themselves on the back on how cheap they did it. Then continued on with the 7 countries in 7 years plan with Syria. Least we forget this was also the birthplace of what we now think of as ISIS, but is more correctly named ISIL. American directly funding terrorism. As to what happens to Lybia next it hardly matters. If they ever get back on their feet expect another humanitarian crisis to conveniently come along.

Thanks for covering this Phil. I live in Tripoli and to be honest most of haftar forces have been pushed back. In some way the militias here have sort of unified even to go as far as to helping the UN backed government. There is still ongoing battles could hear missiles from my house, but before haftar tried taking over Tripoli things here were calm the militias were starting to separated the government had things going on in 5 years it would have been semi stable. Now though it's a whole different story. Whatever happens with haftar will happen but the thing that scares me is after the haftar incident

The general seems like a violent guy, no surprise, he's a general. Tactics aside, his side seems to be the good side. I am shocked Trump would back him rather than the UN guy since that would give Trump more power right? But thinkign abour what's best for the country, giving support to the general sounds like the solution. Once he has no opposition, the country will stabilise, even if part of that stabilising is switchoing out to a new leader. I don't see the general being effect once there is no enemy left. I can see a good future for libya so long as conflict isn't kept up for the sake of conflict.

Why Philip ignores the fact that saudi royal mafia plays major role to pay billions to promote terror n counter every democratic experiment in the region. They paid billions to terrorist haftar n supported him with weapons against UN backed/democratic elected government in Tripoli. Trump only switched sides after he got paid too by his masters in riyadh. I wonder if Phil is knowingly or unknowingly getting money from saudi sources/ think tanks/sovereign funds perhaps there is no other explanation to why he ignored this known fact about whats going on in Libya.

And this my friends is the reason why USA should not have intervened. Considering that Gadaffi complied with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and many other such treaties in the past, he was by no means an enemy of the USA and USA's excuse to assist rebels and kill Gadaffi for peace has led to further destabilization in the country. Now places like North Korea have learned from it and know that such compliance will only lead to their death. Therefore they will continue to go further with their nuclear policy just to safeguard their power.
