A PARALYMPIAN is sharing her scars with the world in the hope of inspiring body confidence. Veronica, from Italy, contracted an acute case of bacterial meningitis when she was 15. The virus left her body, particularly her arms and legs, severely scarred and impaired. Veronica, who spent years hiding her scars, told Truly: -My scars are my body and my body is me

Wow.
This makes me emotional.
It is just so beautiful the way she manages, she's an unbelievable role model! Not just for disabled people but for ALL of us! She really learned me a life lesson: to love my body unconditionally, instead of criticising the way it looks, but be thankfull for it because it functions proparly! It is disgrace for people like her that -particularly women like myself (I'm a good looking 45 year old mother of 3, I have a healthy weight but still never truly satisfied) people with scarless and 100% intact bodies often do not realise what a gift it is and that you cannot take it for granted!

Wow to be honest I never knew that meningitis could do this much damage. I know people can die because of it but this is absolutely horrible! Meningitis and it-s effects. She-s still beautiful though. Everyone has scars I-m glad she doesn-t hide. No one should ever feel alienated because of something like this.

It looks like bacterial meningitis. the worst strain of meningitis you can get. I guess you caught something from someone and it developed into that form.
Regardless of all of that. You are beautiful and confident. But most importantly you are a survivor & inspiration to us all.

Your Boby it's just a objet to use but your soul it's the wonderful creation of GOD. Don't be sad in your life because your soul it's the more important thing in the World. People they see only a Boby but if they Can see their soul they will be blinded

I want to live like this, not with meningitis, but with that kind of spirit and positivity. I have a normal body, but I have terrible self-esteem
