MATT BRIGGS from York, England has lost an incredible 245lbs after a picture with his dad shocked him into joining a weight loss group. Matt says he was always a bigger kid. With parents that owned a shop, he had unlimited access to sugary snacks. Matt's weight really increased when his mother fell ill with multiple sclerosis, looking for comfort in his food. When his mother passed away just before Matt-s 18th birthday, his diet hit an all time low. -From there on I just got bigger and bigger, emotional eating was paramount to me, - Matt told Truly. Weighing in at 437lbs at his heaviest, Matt struggled with his self-esteem and relationships were out of the question during this time. However, the real moment of truth happened when Matt came across a picture taken with his dad. -I wasn-t delusional, I understood I was bigger than other people. But seeing that picture and realising I was twice the size of my dad, that was the wake-up call for me. - That very same week Matt joined a weight loss programme and never looked back, losing an amazing 245lbs in just 18 months

Sorry for all your problems Brother. I too have put weight on through heartbreak and throughout my life. And I can definitely identify with comfort eating. Food is around when other help isn't and there's definitely much more help and support for those who are Anorexic than those who are overweight. It's the terrible double standard that you can get help if you starve yourself thin, but not if you make yourself seriously obese yet the mental health issues are similar in many ways.

He's my consultant & he's brilliant! I couldn't do it without him. He's always been in my corner, especially when I've struggled with my mental health (that's how I gained weight in the first place, and given me the push I needed to carry on. He's changed my life for the better. He's a star & deserves more recognition. Thanks Matt for everything you do! -

weight loss depends person to person, but the key is to maintain both exercise as well as diet, i myself lost around 11-12 pounds just by eating right but i noticed that i was loosing my muscle mass too then i came across program which really helped me to stay fit if anyone interested just let me know

I'm going to get in touch with BEAT the eating disorder group thanks to watching this. I've issues meaning diet and exercise alone won't cut it for Me. I'd need regular support. Going it alone I wouldn't make it.

I absolutely love bigger men, my partner carries extra weight and I love it.
But fair play to him, he must be so proud of himself, he looks awesome. But give me extra love handles over a six pack any day.

Great transformation!
I wonder if he gained the weight back to show he can lose 40 lbs while coaching someone who is 40lbs overweight. 10 or 20 is one thing 40 is.

Its great to know people sre taking control and concurring their goals. It's easier to quit, harder to keep going if you don't see results, but you will get there.

I'm happy you changed, but it's not true that you were not attractive at your heavy weight. You were attractive then and you are now. Adorable actually.

This is refreshing to see people who really work hard to achieve their goals, and not the hooked on the look cosmetic surgery obsession. Like Ken doll.
