OLI London describes themself as -transracial-. The British-born social media star recently came out as non-binary and announced they -identify as Korean- on social media, which caused major backlash and the influencer has faced accusations of racism and cultural appropriation. Oli-s interest in Korean culture and K-pop star Jimin, of BTS, started when they lived in South Korea in 2013. Since then, Oli, 31, has undergone over 18 procedures and spent over $200, 000 on cosmetic procedures to look more like their boyband idol. However, after five nose jobs, Oli suffers difficulty breathing and has come to El Paso, Texas, to seek the help of Dr. Agullo aka Dr. Worldwide, to resolve these issues. Oli told Truly: -Becoming Korean, becoming this new person has really kind of given me a new lease of life. And at the end of the day, people just need to be a bit more accepting. They don't have to support it, I'm not asking people to accept the way I identify, that's fine, you can have your opinion, I always believe in freedom of speech. But this is just how I am and people need to realise that I'm actually not racist at all, I'm actually doing a lot for the Asian community and this is just generally how I feel

First of all, I'd like to say that this person is still a human being and doesn't deserve any threats. However, as an Asian American, it feels extremely offensive that they just -identify as Korean. - During WWII, my family (who is Japanese) got put in US internment camps, but now that anime and K-Pop are cool people start acting Korean or Japanese or whatever, but never experience any of the racism surrounding the culture. There's absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying K-Pop or anime or any type of entertainment, but at least respect the culture. For people who are not Asian, the best way to respect the culture is to understand it and be respectful to the people who are part of the culture, but also understand the fact that they are not Asian and will never experience the racism associated with it. The same of course applies to any race. I think a black person should take just as much offense if a non-black person identifies as black because they like Lebron James, or anything else like that.

So. i ain't agreeing with the death threats that he's been getting cuz that's pretty f--Ked up, but to identify himself as Korean unable to speak the language and go through all these procedures to mess your image to look like Jimin is disrespectful so I don't agree with undergoing all this if he won't ever look like Jimin

He's gone too far, I'm a huge bts fan as well but I'd never want to look like them, sure they are beautiful men but he's just taking the Mickey and is actually thinking he's jimin, I'm just offended by him as I'm a bts fan myself, it's like grow up and be yourself stop stealing someone else's identity.

I feel for his mama. this is all Internet celebrity sickness. if you like Korea so much learn the language, live there. I'd say marry a Korean and get Korean kids but it doesn't seem like an option. this guy wants to live inside K drama which oddly enough only values Koreans who can be made to look European

Why are you guys glorifying racism and fetishization? What Oli London is doing isn-t cool or trendy, it-s horribly racist. It-s also made worse by the fact that he is trying to push so-called transracialism on the LGBTQ+ community? Being transracial is racist, not queer, and should not be treated as such.

Most Asian perhaps do plastic surgery to look like (almost) caucasian. This is my first time seeing the reverse with exorbitant confidence level. Something wrong within his head? Mental illness? Low self esteem? Asian fever gone too far? Catfishing Korean? Or just the purest form worshipness of Jimin?

What the actual f-ck is going on. People are f-cking mad nowdays. You can't f-cking identify as a different culture. That's dumb as hell. He (more like IT) gives me some heehee vibes instead of Korean vibes. Surgeries makes people look uglier than before. How can someone be so blind, bruhh.
reply

He is nothing like a Korean citizen
Very far away to achieve that, maybe if he is wearing brown contact lenses!
8: 09 hello open your eyes, not even close to Jimin, you are very delusional and maybe obsessed with that, go to a doctor called PSYCHOLOGIST!

reply

Honestly, keep this guy in front of the cameras. Say what you want, he-s got a talent for it. Regardless of his look and the clear delusions he-s living in, he-s clearly cut out for some sort of show hosting job.
reply

How do you -IDENTIFY- as a race or ethnicity? Ppl i believe, are taking the (you can be whoever you want to be) thing WAY too far. It's like saying I identify as an African American. What the hell?
reply

I hope this trend grows. Once white men start to appropriate black men maybe then ppl will finally realize the horrendous effects of trans ideology has had on women.
reply

People pay this guy so much attention because what he is doing is ridiculous but they know its MONEY so while he is putting on a show they counting there money----
reply

How do you identify as a Korean person I'm a black female so one day I just wake up and say I identify as a cacasian ----
makes absolutely NO SENSE----

reply

If he likes Korea so much, why not learn the language and much there? Also, if he wants to look Korean so much, why not get brown eyed contacts?
reply

I wonder if the Korean cossulate would give him a passport? hahahahahahahaha. I bet they would laugh on this face and send him on his merry way.
reply

Think of all the East Asians that spend a fortune trying to look Caucasian. They even break their legs, to stretch themselves to become taller.
reply

My ID says I am 30 but that ain't true. In fact, I identify myself as a 87 yo guy, completely incapable of understanding this stuff.
reply

Instead Of doing what he is doing right now he could just learn to speak the language probably and find more out about the culture
reply

if he really wants identify himself as Korean, take an immigration test! Not sure if he wants become jimin lookalike or Korean
reply

When people look at this thing, they don-t think that of a Korean person, they think of a plastic surgery abomination.
reply

Koreans aren't naturally blond with blue eyes. It's so sad people just can't be normal. He looks like a white woman
reply

Why are people getting mad over his self-identify? Those same amount of people are supporting gender identity.
reply

i wish i could tell them -be a first rate version of yourself, not a second rate version of someone else-
reply

This guy, the Rodigo Alves case and Kim K woman. Stop, just stop Truly. Don't give them what they want.
reply

I can't imagine me telling a group of white people that I feel 95 percent Caucasian now-----and I'm black
