RACHEL Winnard, 37, from Rochdale, UK suffers from Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP) - a condition that causes the development of bone in areas of the body where bone is not normally present. She told Truly: -I am growing a second skeleton. It-s very rare, there are only roughly 800 cases in the whole world with it. - She first lost movement in her right arm in childhood but was able to live a relatively normal life as a teenager. However, in her 20s she had a flare-up in her right hip and began having to use a crutch to walk. Since then she has lost all her mobility, and must use a wheelchair. -I used to be quite independent, so it has been quite a struggle to have to rely on others to do things, she said. -It's been really hard. - To donate to find a treatment and a cure for FOP visit: www. fopfriends. com

I had an aunt that lived with this condition. Absolutely heartbreaking to watch her become a prisoner in her own body. She was an amazing artist that ended up using her mouth to paint as she lost the use of her arms. I wouldn't wish this condition on anybody!

What a wonderful woman! She's an example to us all to live each day we can, with what we each have. I also wanted to say what beautiful skin she has, I've never seen such a lovely complection!

She could have been given a book of eloquent complaining, flowery lamentations and the best way to weep, but she would probably never do a single thing in the book! Great attitude!

What a lovely family. As a carer for my mum, it-s wonderful seeing this family really coming together to be there for her. And her positive attitude, it-s lovely.

I know people like this dont like when people feel sorry for them, but I can't help to think about how she feels - I hope one day they can find a cure -

Enduring, nothing but a learning to endure, be glad some care and you could be a single parent of a disabled child while being sick, take care.
