MOM of two, Alex Athienitou, from London, England, lost over 100lbs in a year. The busy mom struggled with comfort eating and yo-yo dieting for many years, before deciding that she had to change her lifestyle. Alex chose to have weight loss surgery to help her with portion control. Despite the judgement she has received, Alex told Truly: -Some people say that surgery is the easy way out, but it-s categorically not. It saved my life! - Alex has maintained her weight loss through a combination of healthy eating and exercise. She now enjoys working out and living an active lifestyle. She said: -I hope that me speaking about how I chose to lose weight could help others on their weight loss journey. Everyone-s journey is totally different

I lost 250 pounds in 5 years and I became very consistent to change because I got sick and tired of feeling sluggish and drained had no energy plus I was being picked at because I was overweight people said mean things to me so I became very motivated to change it took me 5 years to get where I am today and I am so proud of myself and I love myself for doing this and I'm still doing it I love it now I have haters hating me now obesity is really getting worse people just love going out to eat and drinking and binge eating this is how people like to be social its really sad and sickening and its how people get addicted so it's why I changed.

Good for her losing 120 lbs. This is the downside of losing a lot of weight in a short period of time. My friend lost 84 pounds and had all this loose skin. She had plastic surgery to remove the skin, the augmentation to fix the resulting sagging breasts, and the tummy tuck costing $30, 000 USD. That was getting a discount by having the surgery performed in a smaller city (Hint: surgeons in large cities like NYC, LA, Miami and Chicago charge much more. She looks hot now and is married.

Beautiful woman! This is NOT the easy way out. I have a family member who had the surgery and it is not easy at all; very difficult and a life-long decision. You cannot go back to the lifestyle you had before. This lady looks amazing and once she has the skin removed she will feel better. Much luck on her continuous journey to health. Good job! Thank you for sharing.

i had the gastric sleeve surgry over 3 years ago and lost over 200ibs. but you can just as easy put it back on the weight. even having that surgery you can still get fat cause stress can cause you to put weight on. i knew its happen to me my weight is like a dang elevator up & down

Will loose skin only happen to someone who lost weight as fast as her? I'm 210 and my goal is 150 but I have pcos so I lose weight much slower than others. I'd hate to have loose skin since I don't have the money to get skin removal surgery. :/
reply

I am also glad you mentioned the health risks of having loose skin. I have worked with bariatric patients before, and what you said about the rashes and infections is spot on. Skin removal is definitely a necessary surgery.

Ive considered the sleeve from time to time. I useto be at 280ish. Ive worked my way down to 220ish but yeah its not easy. If i could afford the sleeve i would probably do it but for now its just weight lifting.

I'm all for people doing whats best for them, but id say its the easier way, not that theres anything wrong with that. I just hope it lasts long term, these surgeries can be undone if people go back to their old habits.

Congratulations! It's hard to lose weight. I'm about 220 now, but every time I lose I gain it right back it's difficult to maintain unless I eat 1200-1500 calories a day. I'm thinking about seeing a nutritionist.

good job! yeah unfortunately only a doc can get rid of the extra skin, but the scars can serve as a reminder of your awesome accomplishment and to stay strong - -

the trouble is having the stomach surgery to lose weight, means more surgery when will it end, i lost weight no surgery, for me surgery will be my last resort
reply

I have lost about 70 pounds over the last three years, about 15 more to go until I am at my healthy weight. Congratulations to her on the weight loss!

So incredible that she looked to surgery, 255 not that bad, could have lost it slowly and had less skin. People just dont want to do the work, period.
reply

Having your stomach removed is only a temporary band aid. Not addressing the underlying issues will just lead to gaining the weight back eventually.
reply

I really hate when people say getting a gastric band is the easiest way out. It is not. Any surgery is life threatening. Well done on the weight loss!
reply

Congratulations! The video was inspiring - but misleading. I was hoping to see the final resu. t after skin removal. Still, very impressive.

so happy to see people in a similar situation as my own and seeing how happy they are
i lost 154 lbs and am also having my skin removed

It is still the easy way out. If you are going to change your behavior, change your behavior without cutting out almost all of your stomac

She was not even too heavy (I know she is heavy but there is a kind of heavy I mean) before. How come she have all these loose skin?

It takes a lot of commitment to make the life changes needed to lose and keep off that amount of weight. Well done to her!
reply

Bless you! Well done! There's no tricks really, if you really want to do it, eat less and work out. More power to you ---

I am very happy for you! To be honest, you were beautiful before and you are beautiful now. Keep loving on yourself.

Notice Alex portion size with those dumplings! Most people will fill a plate full. Counting calories help

why did we have to listen to the same audio twice in under 2 minutes? what is going on with the editing?
reply

I achieved the same results by proper exercise and diet. Proud of her but surgery isn't always necessary!
